My oldest son just turned 21 and he is living in the KC area.  He has a fair amount of informal shooting experience and he has his CCW, but he has never really had any formal defensive handgun training.  I'd like to send him to a good class that covers realistic defensive handgun stuff (drawing from concealment, target engagement, etc.).  I don't want something too basic, but rather something that will help him build his skills.

Anyone have any recommendations of a good class or series of classes within a reasonable driving distance from the NKC/Liberty area?

Thanks!

Centerfire Shooting Sports in Olathe KS is my suggestion.  I took the Basic Defensive Pistol class before the Covid hit.  It is the nicest indoor range I have used in my limited experience.  You can bring you own ammo or buy their's.  Need spare magazines, mag holder, snap caps and holster.  We shot from the draw at different ranges and light conditions.  You have to take the Introduction to Defensive Pistol class (No shooting) before the Basic Defensive class.

Midwest tactical it’s around warrensburg not too far of a drive. I’ve taken one class with them and will be back for more. Great class and great instructors

S&S Training put on some cool training, including night vision courses and MILES system events.

I think they have some normal handgun training too.

I have never used their services, but it might be an option.

I regularly take classes from the following:
http://www.srt-group.com/
https://www.aordynamics.com/
https://www.sstrainingsolutions.com/

AOR and S&S regularly have classes in cave range off 23rd/435 and SRT does some events there.

Reasonable prices at Midwest Tactical, wide variety of classes, nice instructors.  Nice facility.  I have done pistol and carbine classes there.

I'm not seeing much in the way of future training dates.

Bitner Defense does an intermediate handgun course that sounds like a good time.

He schedules those when he has people that want to go. He has a two student minimum.

He’s an interesting guy. He’s a retired Army COL, a retired Cass County Deputy, and a double PhD, but he’s humble and patient.

Bill Regina- SRT-Group

It’s been years but I took combat handgun 1&2 and Basic Rifle 1. The combat handgun 1&2 included shooting from a vehicle (at that time). I think they are called different names now.

I emailed this guy a week ago with a couple questions and still haven't received a response.

Guess ill go with someone else.  It sucks. I live in Raymore, they would have been very close.

FRONTIER JUSTICE

Frontier Justice in Lee's Summit has classes.  I've never taken them but I like the facility.
