I, along with another experienced shotgun instructor, am in the process of setting up an Introduction to FITASC clinic to be held at Powder Creek Gun Club in Lenexa, Kansas (just outside of Kansas City).  The Kansas FITASC and 5 Stand State Championship will be hosted by Powder Creek on July 12-15, and this clinic will be a prime opportunity to not only learn the rules and how to shoot FITASC, but will also serve as a great time to have some fun learning the game and becoming a better, more proficient shotgunner.

The date for the clinic will be Saturday, May 5, with sessions beginning at 1:00 p.m. and again at 3:00 p.m.  The class size will be limited, so please send me an IM with your contact information if you would like to sign up and I will provide additional specifics regarding what to bring, what to expect, etc.  The rate is $45 per person, and targets are included in that price.  If the classes fill up as we expect them to, we may have a second day on Sunday, May 6.

Thanks,

Bud

FITASC is an acronym for ‘Federation Internationale de Tir Aux Sportives de Chasse', a clay shooting game that closely mimics various wingshooting scenarios.  Unlike Trap or Skeet, FITASC rules call for targets to be shot with the gun mount beginning below the shoulder pocket, and moving up to the shoulder as a target becomes visible.  It is sort of like a cross between Sporting Clays and International Skeet.  There are also rules limiting the shot size (7.5, 8 and 9), as well as the load itself (no more than 28 grams/1 ounce).  The target presentations utilize different clay pigeon sizes, speeds and trajectories, and are usually very challenging.

It is also a lot of fun.

Some Trap, Skeet, Sporting Clays and 5 Stand shooters are intimidated by FITASC, when there is no need to be.  The intent behind our clinic is to introduce more shooters to the game, and help them be comfortable shooting it.

Yes. And how do you cook it?

Use your favorite snow goose recipe.  No matter how many you kill, it still takes a lot of gravy to make a meal.

So, likely my 18" Cyl bore barrel might not be the best choice for this game?

Yeah, you might need a little more choke.

There are still a few slots left in each session.

Both sessions have been filled.

If you were on the fence and interested, we may be setting up another couple of sessions between early May and mid-June.  Please pm me if you would like to be kept apprised.

Thanks.
