East side shooters:
I'm thinking of having a fun SERE shoot on Oct 26th that involves zombies, terrorists, and a pterodactyl. Any interest? I'm thinking a mini three-gun course. Fight your way past a horde of (3 or 4) zombies, then defend yourself against a viscous (clay) pterodactyl, and finally take out a terrorist at ultra-long (150 yards) range, through-a-window. For safety reasons, the zombie targets could only be shot with .22 pistol, but the long range shot may be any (less than .50) gun. Zombies: limit of ten (10) rounds total. Head shot scores five (5) points. Pterodactyl: limit two rounds low brass, number 4 or smaller. Hit with first scores ten (10) points, second scores five (5). Terrorist: Limit three rounds. Your choice of shooting position. Shot 1 hit gets ten (10) points, number two gets five (5) points and number three gets one (1) point. Everyone starts with one hundred (150) points and your total score is 150 plus your shot score minus your time in seconds. Edited 'cause I can't read a calendar. Sat or Sun is the plan. What can you win? An amateur-designed certificate suitable for sticking on the fridge and bragging rights. What does SERE have to do with it? Shoot, Eat, RElax – DUH! East side where?
Low round count means it's cheap. Any limit on number of times running the course of fire? |

Depending on how many people are here, you can run as othen as you like. If everyone gets bored with killing zombies, we can switch to just clays or rifles at 150 yards. ETA: This shoot is sanctioned by the East Catawissa International Shooting Organization -- me. |

How are you planning to stage the shooters? Holster draw or pick up from table? Don't have a holster for my P22 yet is why I ask.

I suspect that some people may not have a .22 pistol at all, so I'll have my Bersa Thunder available. This is intended to be a fun shoot with the emphasis on fun. Nothing too serious. Mostly a chance to get together, tell exagerated stories of heroic deeds, eat, drink and relax. |

Sounds like fun. I work during the day, is this an evening thing or am I going to have to take off work?
|
|
Sounds like a blast! If I can squeeze away from work I'll be in.

Can I come play too? I've seen the MOHTF shoot. I'm not willing to risk it I've seen them shoot, too. Under the apple is probably the safest place to be. Just don't dress up like a spray paint can. |

Sounds like fun, but my boss has this thing about me showing up to work.

I usually plan on Saturdays for these shoots, but would more people be able to make it on Sunday?
|
|
You'd have to move to keep us away from that one, JC.
Sat or Sun is fine ETA: Kiddo will have his Birfdai Rifle with him. PPSH50/22 is pretty much a Zombie gun |
|
|
Hoping to be hunting that weekend but if plans change I'm sure me & cheap will be there. I took that whole weekend off

Glad to hear its a Saturday.
I plan to be there. The distant target, is that intended for pistols or rifles? |

Since I've never done anything like this before, a few questions...
Entry fee? You mentioned food. Is it like a pot luck, or is someone on site selling BBQ, or is it bring-your-own? Bathroom facilities? Anything else I need to know? Thanks! |
|
I might give this a go.
Think I only know like one person in the MOHTF |

As I said above, I'll have sausages to grill, buns, condiments and bottled water. If you like anything else from the grill, feel free to bring it. Also, chips, or side dishes are also good. Don't feel like you have to, though. Alcoholic beverages are to be consumed only after the person is done shooting, but are welcome. Everyone will use good judgement, of course. Bringing things to sell/trade is also OK. ReaperATM and TheFreshman usually have a SUV load of stuff they're trying to dump . . . I mean sell. |

I just realized, I need a shotgun for this.
What kind of distance will we be shooting at the flying clay? I can borrow my Dads Mossberg but it's just a 18" home defense gun. Or I could use this as justification for buying myself a shotgun.... |

Of course, if you need an excuse, I'll vouch for the absolute requirement that you MUST have yout own if anyone asks. The range will be reasonably close unless you let it get too far out. an 18" barrel ahould be OK. My birds are old, so they're getting pretty slow. |

I don't have a shotgun that has any type of skeet/clay barrel. So I'll be using a Remmy 870 with a 14" barrel and ghost rings I figure train with what you have, so it should be interesting!

I may have to change my son's 12th b-day pressent to a 12-gauge RIA M5 pumper. Still a couple of those at Graf's in St Charles, he just might need to grow into it a bit. LOL
|

As for shotguns I could use the;
Savage M24 22/.410 over under, Stevens 20ga side by side, Mossberg 500 12ga I have never used any of them. Older than me by 25-30 years. They where more of a father to son hand down last Christmas. |
