I am definitely in.

Is there a preference on the date?

Saturdays in April... 12, 19, 26.

Give feedback, then we can get started making some arrangements.

I am looking forward to meeting you guys and slinging some lead!

Our national Guard state rifle match is 12-13 April, but any other weekend would be good.

19 April.  That way, we can piss off the Neo-Nazis and Columbine professional victims by shooting the day before Hitler's birthday, thus robbing them of a photo-op.

April 19(1775) is the "real" Patriots Day! Unfortunately, it's not celebrated as it should. The first attempt at "gun control" in America!

Are you talking about Finger Lakes?  Maybe I could make it the last week if I turkey hunt my buddy's place in Columbia.  Rest of the month I'll be on road.

Hello,

Is the 19th the confirmed  day of the shoot ??
iam planning on comming and i will post this thread on some other boards so other Missouri people can attend . i know some have not had the chance to shoot a black rifle so this would give them a chance to see many models of them as well as shooting some if they members will let them . also if anyone has any items to trade person to person this would be a good time , iam thinking of trading a DPMS Super Bull 24 upper so i might bring that along !!
Thanks TS2

Sounds good, Major:

OK everyone:  Patriots Day Shoot, 19 April 2003, Finger Lakes.  Mike, do you still have the map from last year?  I'm bringing a flagpole and my Betsy Ross flag, along with plenty of ammo!  (Thanks for last time, Mike!)

I'll be there on the 19th barring a match or work (I can work every Saturday until now til I retire, so that ceases to be a reason after a while.)

I've never been to a shoot before.  Would someone make a stab at a description and what you should bring?  Thanks.

I'm in barring anything I might have to do school-wise.  Guess I should start loading now :-)

Bowling pins make good targets...

We (at Texas shoot) also had some silohouette steel plates supported by pieces of angle iron...

We'd use 8 of these with two bowling pins and have competition shoots - handguns & rifles...
1st & 2nd place in each catagory got small cash prizes...

Lots of fun...

I'll be bringing my New Bushmaster, Moss 500, and CZ-75...  Hoooah...

Looking forward to meeting ya'll

I'll try to attend again.

But if past experience is any indicator, I'll remember to pack RAIN GEAR...

I'd like to go too, if you guys don't mind. But I have what might be a dumb question. Where is Finger Lakes?

TIA,

Finger Lakes Conservation Area is 7 or 8 miles north of Columbia just off the east side of Highway 63.  It is shown on most road maps of the state.

What time does it start?  Is this range unmonitored or like the one out at Busch's?

Thanks AeroE. I figured it was around Columbia, but wasn't able to find it. It sounds like a good time! I am going to try and be there.
And I'll echo MissouriBob's question. Is this a monitored range?

Sorry to hear you can't make it. But you have a far more important thing to do. And I, for one appreciate it.

Stay safe,
Eric

The range at Finger Lakes is unsupervised - all hell breaks out when the Mid-Missouri shows up.

A State Park ranger from next door to ask us to keep the "big" booms down as it was disturbing the campers - we did, for a while - dreams or Tannerite ....

Remember, as you're coming in on the road, the drive to the range will be on your RIGHT.  It's the first gravel road to the right past the State Park entrance.  Several folks missed it last year.

Now, as far as the time it starts, that will be when the first 2 people get there!  I'm driving in from St. Louis (if I don't wind up pulling duty again!), and some folks from much farther away.  That shouldn't keep Shamus and gang from having some fun before we get there!

ABN-RGR:  Good luck, buddy!  You'll just have better targets to shoot at.  Color me jealous!

Here's another link to a good mapwww.conservation.state.mo.us/documents/area_brochures/7912MAP.PDF.  Apparently it is also called Rocky Fork CA. Finger Lakes is a state ORV park. Quite challenging I must say.  The area use to be a coal strip mine.

MOBOB don't forget to bring your dirt bikes.

I'll try to make it but there's an 80% I will be in China.

I am getting rather sick of it myself.  I haven't taken a vacation day or sick day in 10 months, even when I broke my elbow, but I still get stuck with mandatory overtime.  I've been told, "If you don't like it, there's the door."

Anyone want to hire a firearms instructor?

Looks like I will miss another Spring shoot - we have a long range match scheduled on the 19th, so that's where I'll be.  Benchrest is also having the annual swap meet that day (I wonder which genius scheduled the match for Easter weekend).

Too bad, I have a new toy for y'all to try - a Browning 525 O/U.

I might not be there myself.  My lease is up that weekend, and if I can find a nice place before then, I'll be out of this shithole...

Trying to rearrange the schedule, but manpower is still low.  Anyway:

Pistol:  Check.
Ammo:  Check.
Eye and hearing protection:  Check.
Rain gear:  Check.
Flippers, mask, and snorkel:  Check.

All set!

Okay, I'm not moving, so I will probably try to make it.  Is anyone posting this on other boards, or are we keeping this AR15.com related?

Second, has anyone notified the IL guys, Tim, John, and Urodoji?  I imagine they no longer visit AR15.com, and I don't blame them, but I still consider them good guys, and I hope that any of the Mid-MO crew should feel the same way.  Especially those of us who shot the M16 and Barrett.  Anyway, I can call Tim if noone else has yet.

I didn't see Branson or Leif chime in yet, do they know about it yet?  I can email Branson, but I don't know how to get a hold of Leif.

And I'm crossing my fingers that the paperwork gods will be kind to me and I will have my Form 4 approved by then.  It'd be a good time to welcome the return of my MP5-N SBR.  Semi only for now, but still fun...

I'm in.  ShamusMcOI is in.  Will bring toys and ammo.

Heard a nasty rumor that the park rangers were going to start enforcing range rules about not shooting objects on the ground.  If the target isn't mounted on a backstop its a $500 fine or so.  Don't know if its true and frankly I've only seen a ranger there twice after going there nearly every weekend for almost 3 years now, but I just wanted to give fair warning.

Oh yeah if anyone needs a place to sleep I have an extra bed.

This may be a stupid question but i'm unsure. Is this going to be a semi-auto shoot only or are full auto weapons allowed as well?

If you've got the paperwork, fire away!

Since there was a fatal carjacking at one of our accounts last night, there is now no way that I can re-arrange the schedule, so I am now officially unable to attend.
