Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Recent Alabama Crime (Murder) Stats Source?

The local TV news stations recently reported that Birmingham was #3 in the nation for murders per 100,000 population, and Montgomery was #26. I went to both station's websites, but they don't list a source for this. Anyone else see this and / or have additional info? TIA.
