My sister lives in Franklin county; people are hurt.  She doesn't live in Phil Campbell but someone told her the little town was hit badly.  "Phil Campbell is gone" are the words she used. She also said the children of some people she knows "are hurt badly."

My momma and deddy live in extreme Eastern Franklin country and have pieces of aluminum siding in their yard but didn't have a tornado that they could tell.

It's April 4, 1974 all over again.  Probably a lot of hotly debated theories about the monsters from '74 being proven or disproven today with better technology etc..

I feel for everyone living in fear and dread right now.

Thnaks for the prayers and well wishes. It's going to be a rough couple of days for some. Three of my siblings are without power. My sister in in Pleasant Grove Alabama is trapped in her community. They have multiple trees down in their yard, no power or phone. However, they have only minor structural damage.  When I talked to her this evening she told me a house in the neighborhood was on fire but no one can get to it to put it out.  It's a real mess.

They've got great video of the Tuscaloosa tornado online.

Do me one favor if you are local.  If you going to help, great.  If you playing the part of a Looky Loo, stay your ass at home.  We don't need the traffic.  Also I am not in the mood.

Prayers sent from West Texas.  My brother is a fire LT and lives in Helena, just south of B'ham.  I imagine some of them are assisting in North B'ham.

My heart breaks for the people of AL.  As someone who experienced Katrina, I understand what ya'll are going through with the aftermath and loss.  I will be praying.  I wish I could go there and do something.

Went to my sister's house today in Pleasant Grove. Managed to get through to deliver a generator. I brought hand trucks and had to walk a couple of blocks, portaging over obstacles. I wouldn't have been able to get a larger unit in. Got them my EU2000 and extended run fuel tank.  Their house was virtually unscathed. However, this was the seen just two blocks away.  These pictures were taken from 5th way/9th terrace.  She lives in the 1000 block of 5th place.

As amazing as this may sound, it looks even worse to witness in person. It is surreal.

I wish I was there to help and comfort folks.  Lived 7 years in B'ham and 3 in Tuscaloosa, and 18 in Montgomery, so far everyone I knew was spared but just can't believe how much people have lost there.  Don't know what to say really other than pray a lot.

Huntsville area here. They have found a lot of the missing people today and the death toll is climbing. I closed Firefox at work because I didn't want to hear any more.

Coming home last night was surreal. University Drive in HSV is always lit up with businesses, street lights, traffic lights, etc. It was (and still is) totally dark, hard to describe......  Off University going home I drove cautiousally and didn't see much. This morning, going to work I realized I had driven under utility poles and power lines that were just a few feet higher than my Jeep.

Last I heard we will be dark for 7 or more days. Hopefully I will have a genny here tomorrow. Curfew from dusk to dawn also. A friend has to be in nashville tomorrow morning for an appt with a cancer doctor. Spent 4 hours in line for gas and may get there before midnight. I'm really worried about her....

Thanks to all for the thoughts and prayers. Hoping I can get out this weekend and help those more impacted than me.

Prayers sent from Indiana. I have a slightly "personal" connection with Tuscaloosa. For the last year or so, I have been sawing limestone for a huge federal building there. The bulk of the stone has shipped, and we've been working on a few replacement pieces that were broken, etc. recently. Now I have to wonder if the building is even still there.

Hang in there guys.

The New court is just a mile from my office and survived the storm.
