Quoted: Don't forget there is a 10% Buyer's Premium added onto the winning bid, and 8% Alabama Tax added onto the winning bid and the Buyer's Premium. If you also rent a truck to pick them up, the total "per can cost" increases quite a bit from the actual winning bid. |
thanks, that is exactly the "hooks" I was looking for.
10% buyers premium? |
You are welcome.
Yeah, I didn't find out about the Buyer's Premium or the Alabama Tax until I downloaded the invoice to pay for my auction.
+1 on what The_Beer_Slayer said about the cost being way high. Anniston doesn't receive many ammo cans, so there is usually a crowd bidding to buy them when they are available. I would expect the cans to go for $3.75 to $4.50 each, before the Buyer's Premium and the Alabama Tax.
The cans I bought from the Anniston auction were received from the Coast Guard. They are so new, you can still smell the paint curing on the cans. No rust, no sand or mud, and no scratches, they look (and smell) like they were manufactured yesterday. The cans on the auction you linked to are packaged the same way as mine were, wrapped in plactic, with the lids separate from the cans. If you look at other ammo can auctions, the cans are usually just banded, not wrapped in plastic. Maybe these are Coast Guard cans also?
