About 3 years ago I sold a car to my son in South Carolina, and since it and I were in Southern California, I drove it and my Mother across country on a shall we say farewell tour for my Mother and her friend we visited enroute.    So far thankfully all are still going strong, and my son and I wll be driving cross country again in about a month as he PCS transfers from Kunsan AFB to Shaw in South Carolina.

We stayed at a motel in Vicksburg that was just a little south of the highway and railroad bridge, and we watched the tows on the river negotiating the bridges.  Being a native southern nCalifornian, the concept of a river that has water in it is a neat thing to watch and we would like to stay ther again.

I'll be darned if I can find any kind of listing for the place.  Everything I'm finding is up off I-20 or on the north side of town.  It was a little past the bigger complex, Rainbow Casino? and we drove tha little ways through a not so great part of town but I'ld really like my son to get to see the river in it's glory.

Any ideas on which one it is?  Mostly 2 stories I think on the river end there was an outdoor pool down one more level.  It didn't have coffee shop as I recall.

Any ideas which one it might be?  or if it is still there?  It wasn't too modern but it was in real nice shape.

I'm from v-burg, MS - was there a Waffle House out front?

seems like the one I'm thinking of has changed hands once or twice - maybe a best western - just can't think of it off the top my head.

eta: that's not a good part of town.

May have been a Waffle House real close.  Agree it wasn't that great a part of town.  The motel was real nice, and the view of the river and bridges was pretty interesting.  Probably will pick another place.
