guys we have a request,

CampNinja has been asked by his local alma matter <a well known military academy> to assist some graduating students get some live fire training/experience before shipping off to active duty and OCS.

WE NEED WEAPONS. we have about 6 or so ar but need around 6-7 more. Campninja is in the process of trying to coordinate this with them. Hopefully we can get them to bhman but we may have to travel to them. If need be i will burn a vacation day and head down to assit them.

I know this is a BIG request...... but if anyone would be willing to loan us an extra AR15 for this it would be greatly appreciated. Manpower is also a plus and welcome but we are really in need of extra firearms for this. We will be strictly supervising them on the line along with their instructors. My understanding is these kids have had a good deal of basic firarms training and familierisation but they have ZERO live fire experince. I figure these kids are about to put their asses on the line we can at least help them out.

If anyone is willing to assist with this PLEASE get in touch with me or Thecampninja as soon as possible.

If I can get my hands on another barrel in time, I could possibly offer mine. Bookhound is sending me some taper pins for my current barrel, but I doubt you will want a 16" ban-friendly bull barrel in the mix. (no sling swivel, FH, or bayo lug)

guys ANY rifle is welcome. the bayo lug doesn't affect the shooting and we aren't doing bayonette drills.

so far i have confirmed 8 rifles. we need at least 12 ar15's more would be better. These kids need to see not only ar15's but ak's,fals,g3,mosins,enfields sks, and what ever else we can muster up. They need to be able to identify and safe whatever they may encounter. Their are TONS of surplus ww1 and ww2 rifles in thirld world countries still in service. i'd bet there were more USGI's getting shot at with bolt guns in afghanistan than AK's.

my understanding is they will have their own ammo. at least for the ars. i am thinking cleaning would be more GOOD training. then again i am a bit picky about how my ar's get cleaned and some folks may not want that done.

Cleaning is part of training. If the date does not match with me who's going to take charge of the weapons?

mike, my other upper came in, so now i have two for the cause..i also have a buddy of mine that is in army reserves now, but was in iraq not to long ago.. he is willing to come and help too..working on two more ars as well...anyone got an extra bolt group willing to sell?

i have firm commitments for 9 ar15's and a few other types of rifles.

as for responsibility. as soon as we know the date I will be putting in for Vaction. Sooner the better paul!!!

Camp ninja and myself will be going for sure. i also have tentative comitments from a few other folks to assist as needed with rso duties pending the date and location.

Paul...... it is REALLY looking like it would be best for this to be done at FOP if at all possible.

For the record i suggested that their instructors do ALL instruction with the students for liability purposes. All weapons will be checked by us prior to issueing to stundednts to insure serviceability. I trust you guys but i have even found stuff on my guns after the fact and we want these kids to have ZERO problems. I will have some minor parts with me incase of failures.

if anyone has any other suggestion please feel free to IM them to thecampninja.

Here's hoping we can pull this off!!!

Do the AR's need to be of A2 configuartion? I have about 4 or 5 we could use and 2 SP1's. And if my para get's here in time I will have a para fal and a carbine fal.

i am thinking any legal configuration would be fine. from what i am told these kids already know the basics. there is no functional difference in an sp1/A1 rifle and an A4/m4. the basics are all the same. The army will teach them what they need to know on their specific weapons at basic.

UPDATE: I am still trying to iron out dates with Col. Ruiz regarding this, he wanted to make something happen soon so that these boys could get this in before training. I tried to get them up here on the 21st, but they could not as this is the weekend before finals. I have suggested the 28th or 29th, and am awaiting response from Col. Ruiz. I really appreciate y'all being willing to help out on this, very cool. If, due to the accelllerated timeframe of this, we are unable to make a date prior to graduation happen, that would suck, but would not at all negate a future relationship with the school in this regard. They were *very* receptive this, and I will see to it that it happens, be it in a few weeks or next academic year. I will keep ya'll posted, and expect finality from Col. Ruiz soon. Thanks guys!

I would be honored to lend mine. A few months ago I dumped a large portion of my collection and a ton of training ammo that might have helped.
(AK-47/74,SKS'sG3 clones) Sucks this came a little late for this project.

I am/was due to leave on assignment on 5/8, I got called this AM and stood down.

When you come up with a firm time and date let me know and if I and my gun are still in Bama ,I would like to try to make it available to you.

UPDATE: Guys, here is the last correspondence I received from Col.Ruiz, looks like a date will be firmed up quite soon! Huzzah!!! Now, the letter:

First, we are looking hard at coming 21 May. You already have the shoot laid on and I know we need to bring ammo. How do we buy ammo, or would it be easier to bring the $$ to pay for what we shoot?
The next date we are looking at is the 29th. It is after exams, we have cadets that will be here preparing for camp and the rifle marksmanship will really help. I’m also trying to get the SF organization to do a FTX after school. That helps the cadets going to camp. It would be great to integrate rifle marksmanship into the FTX!
I’m trying to get some feedback from them on what will work best. Students can’t predict their priorities because of the constant changes they may have in personal situations. What will happen is 20 say they will go and 5 show up. I’m going to have a hard figure before I commit you guys to your time. They really want to do this.

paul,

the shoot for the 21'st is a go at FOP. keep inmind they will ahve to share an active firing line with about 20 others.

we can take a few at a time and work with them on the public range if need be. <probobly a better idea> it would give us a little closer supervision and safety than throwing them online the line with a bunch of hardcore mag dumpers.

I'd say, only enough to feed your gun, if your gun is being offered. There will not be very many there, finals week has culled the herd. But those who are coming are the water buffaloes, the weird, the doomed, the ones who *want* to do be there. It'll be a good day. We're jolly green giants, walkin' the earth, with guns.
