I remember hearing about a range near New Castle.  Or somewhere in eastern Indiana.  Has anybody ever heard of such a place?  If so, where is it and is it better than atterbury?
Thanks Ben

Wilbur Wright. I almost went last weekend, but, well, that's another story.

Anyway, I called and asked what their rifle range was like. The chick said that they have a 25 and 50 yard range, with benches but no overhead cover. I'll probably go check it out sometime this summer. It is a little closer to me than Atterbury. At least it will be different than Atterbury, which I've grown pretty tired of.

Wilbur Wright is a decent little range; pretty much as described above. It can get CROWDED on nice days, though, so go early or late. Also, the sometimes-present DNR guys don't care much for bump-firing.

It's a decent range. 25 and 50yd ranges with 5 or 6 tables each.

They put up a shotgun range a little while back, so you can bring a thrower and clays if you like.

It can get crowded at times, but those times are pretty random. Last weekend, my buddy and I were there for almost 2 hours, and there were only 3 people besides us there.

When it's hot out, bring plenty of water, as there is zero overhead cover.

If you go, fill out the card before you step onto the range. The DNR guys are real sticklers about that.

Does anyone know if one can fire ARs at the 25-yard range?

None of the DNR guys have asked me to stop.

I shoot AR's every time I go there.  I don't bump fire, but I have dumped  some mags in the palce.  As long as you are hitting the target and the fire is controlled and accurate, they don't seem to mind.

I admit, I work up to it.  I don't just drop my tailgate and dump 300 rounds down range.

Thanks.
At Atterbury, they seem to frown on that, but if there aren't too many pistol shooters they'll let you zero at 25.
