I was discussing firearms with a Maryland resident that was visiting the Hampton Roads area of Virginia today and he said he said he thought machine guns were illegal. I told him that they were legal in Va. and many other states although tightly regulated by the BATF, but I didn't know about Maryland.
Briefly, are full autos and suppressors allowed in Maryland?

All of them are legal.
Machineguns require a yearly license fee however. Pretty sure. But suppresors and short long guns are all just like the other states. and only require the cleo sign off (which is automatic in MD). |

All are, as long as their regular version is on the list. There's a yearly registration require for MG and a 10 dollar fee. If you have a trust you can bypass the state and the yearly registration and fee.
Supressors are good to go also. |

Unless I'm missing something, the trust only allows you to go through the BATFE without fooling with the CLEO sign off and prints, because a trust or corporation can not be printed. You must, however, register your machine gun regardless of how it is purchased: Maryland Law / Instructions
§4-403 of the Maryland Criminal Law Article, requires, that except in the calendar year it was purchased, every machine gun in this State shall be registered with the Secretary of the State Police annually during the month of May. Also, every machine gun shall be registered within 24 hours after its acquisition. Failure to comply with this law is a felony punishable by imprisonment in the State penitentiary for a term of not more than ten years. Maryland law further requires that each Machine Gun Registration Form, filed with the Secretary, shall be accompanied by a nonrefundable registration fee of $10. Please type or legibly print all required information contained on this form. Use the rear side of this form to register any additional machine guns. If additional space is needed, copy the rear side of this form. Submit this form and any copies of the rear side of this form to the Firearms Registration Section at the above listed address. |
