Hi guys, I'm filling out my C&R application and wanted to know who is better to use as the CLEO, local sheriff or the state police (since a lot of local agencies don't deal with it and just send the stuff to MSP anyway).  I just don't want to get the application hung up for an extra month or two because I didn't put the guy they wanted down. Thanks---

I went with MSP.  MSP handles all firearm transactions anyway.  It will have no impact on your application either way I'm sure.

I've sent it to the sheriff both times (original and renewal) since I couldnt find a mailing address for the MSP.

I was told send the copy to whomever shows up when you call 911.

I sent mine to the head honcho of Balt County Sheriff.  No problems.

Interesting. When I was filling out my application I called the State Police in Jessup and was told I needed to mail the CLEO section to them, not the Baltimore County Police.

I guess it is just another case of getting a different answer out of the MSP depending on who picks up the phone.
