Actually its not just the LEOs but some gun store people believe it the same way.  Continental Arms in Timonium has a big "Stop" sign on the door stating that no loaded mags are to be brought in that they are considered a "loaded gun" by the law.

Just keep the guns locked up with a gun lock and seperate the guns and the ammo.  If you're pulled over you're going to the Range, FFL, or a show...not a friend's house, though that could be considerd a "private show" but best not to go there.  Ohh and no stop offs  this is a biggie!  You are to be going directly to your destination with the only legal acceptable stop being for gas, you can't even go in and get a cup of coffee while its pumping.  Good luck!

My trip starts in my home state where I am licenced to carry, and my destination is WV where unconcealed carry is legal. My understanding is that as long as I am legal on both ends of the trip, I can legally pass through.

Yeah we're not NJ where you have to file notification 48hrs in advance.
