I went to Hap Baker today. Counting myself, I counted 4 AR-15's of various configuration. The range wasn't crowded at all. I didn't have to wait for a lane, but I did have to wait 45 min for the RSO to finish lunch so a cease fire could be called. Other than that it was pretty nice. After I finished with the AR I moved over to the Pistol range and had it all to myself.

Let me know when the next time you go. I now live only 10 minutes from Hap Baker. Need somebody to walk me through it all.

I've never been there on a Saturday, usually go on Friday mornings.  Good to see some black rifles out and about in Marylandistan.

I've been to Hap Baker a few times.  Seems to always be the same group up there.  Generally, not very friendly, but I'm not there to chat with the RSOs.  Have been thinking about joining up at Marriotsville, but I don't get to shoot enough to justify the price.

I went to Cresap way "back in the day" when I lived in Mont. Co. If I lived closer to Cresap than Baker, I would go to Cresap. I don't prefer one over the other. They both have these little hills that are a pain in the ass. One you get comin the other you get going.

Sorry Bronze, I wasn't sure I would be going today. Household 6 drug her feet on the blessing. I will definitely keep you in mind for my next shoot. Since you live so close now, maybe we can carpool for the next dinner meet?

If that is the one off of Linganore Road, I was there last weekend. I'm probably going back this Sunday. They have 50 and 100 yard rifle, and I think it was 15 and 25 yard pistol(I didn't shoot pistol there so I just kinda glanced over that way.) You can also shoot shotgun only if you use slugs and blackpowder. The targets were already out there and don't think they have others. You had to shoot rifle from the bench, no standing, kneeling or prone shooting. No "rapid" fire. I didn't have any issues with the RSOs, which is always good. It's pretty cheap...$2 per shooter, $1 per target. It was my first time there, or really any local ranges for that matter, so I can't compare to any others. Hope this helps.

I like Cresap much better than Hap Baker.  Prices are better, people are nicer, more lanes, never a wait...  Two disadvantages are the no standing with rifles rules and they're only open on the weekend until 3.  Other than that, much better than Hap Baker.
