I did a 73 mile trip on the Superior Hiking Trail a few years ago.  Some chick just did all 205miles in 4 days.  I think it depends on the trail.  You could probably do the Greenstone just fine, but the Minong is a little tougher.  I space the mileage out, Most days were 5-8 miles, and I had two days that were 13-14.

No heat.  No reason to.  I try and cut any extra weight that I can and my pack weight still ends up around 35-40lbs.  I need a lighter tent.

We were out there a few years ago. Didn't hike any trails as it was the last day for the boat trip. Picked up a few hikers for the return trip. That was exciting to say the least. There were 9 ft. waves on the way back to Grand Portage. Looks like you had a good trip and thanks for the pics.

No heat in National Parks until Feb 2010.

Way cool man! You should be proud.

I'd love to do that someday. Hopefully my GF will be interested in some backpacking.

Although I think I'd be carrying a gun for sure, especially in "Windigo" park!

Nice pictures. I go to IRNP every other year. I have yet to get to the Washington Harbor.

That will be this year's trip.

Here are pictures from my 2007 trip.

Baby steps.  Do an overnight on the Superior Hiking Trail with her if you can scrounge up the gear for her.  There are outhouses (surprisingly) at all of the campsites on IR, which was a nice change of pace from the glorified buckets on the SHT.  There are shorter loops/trails on IR, and the east end (Rock Harbor) has a hotel I heard.

The whole trip cost me about $300, including an overnight in Grand Portage at the hotel/casino.
