According to the news article, apparently the driver of the car can get away with it too?

Seems like another situation where there is not enough proof/evidence to make an informed decision from this one article.

I agree.

If it was self defense - wouldn't the defender, be it the guy in the car or the woman, have fired, in self defense?

According to the news story, she is a convicted felon. The status of the driver is unknown. She received a full pardon from Steve Beshear, but that only covers the state prohibition. Unless she had her rights restored by the feds she is still a prohibited person under federal law. Of course, this story only mentions the Jefferson County Grand Jury, but if they wanted her badly enough the feds could still prosecute her and still can right now. I am not saying that she should or should not be prosecuted. I just wanted to know what others thought about this. It is surprising that no shots were fired in this incident  and there are too many people waving guns around, IMHO.
