Testifying is a lot easier than you would think. All the information you need is below.  At the VERY LEAST you can spend a few minutes to write testimony.  View sample testimony on our website.  The anti-gun side is motivated and will be emboldened if YOU let any more anti-gun legislation go unchecked.

The Judiciary Committee will hold a public hearing on Monday, March 14, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. via Zoom.  The public hearing can be viewed via YouTube Live.  In addition, the public hearing may be broadcast live on CT-N.com.

You don’t need to be an expert to advocate for your rights. Judiciary Committee Members need to hear from us. A short simple email or testimony is fine.  Please refer to CCDL's Public Hearing Guide.  

Individuals who wish to testify via Zoom must register using the On-line Testimony Registration Form. Registration will close on Sunday, March 13 at 3:00 P.M. If you do not have internet access, you may provide testimony via telephone. To register to testify by phone, call the Phone Registrant Line at (860) 240-5255 to leave your contact information.

Speaker order will be listed in a randomized order and posted on the Judiciary Committee website on Sunday, March 13 at 6:00 P.M. under Public Hearing date. The first hour of the hearing is reserved for state officials and legislators. Speakers will be limited to three minutes of testimony.

Major update on this. They apparently they voted on a substitute language for SB16 that stripped out most of the gun control stuff.

"The majority of onerous parts of the Governor's gun control proposal SB16 including bans on others, gun parts etc., as well open carry have been stripped from the language of the bill. All that remains is the trafficking task force and some language about licensing firearm dealers. This is an incredible achievement. Kudos to our house Ranking Member Rep. Fishbein for negotiating these changes. We have a quite a few strong 2A legislators on the Judiciary committee and I am sure our presence was felt by the Democrat leadership when deciding if they wanted to debate the bill in committee. Anyway, a huge win for gun owners and freedom lovers in CT today!"

"The Committee voted on a strike all amendment to make the original 50+ pages gun control bill to now a 3-page bill. The new langue of the S.B. 16 (LCO 4199), includes 2 years of funding for the firearm trafficking task force and to require DESPP to consult with NSSF to report of the feasibility of creating a state FFL license.

S.B. 16 will now move out of the committee and be sent the Senate for scheduling to be raised for a vote in the first chamber."

More updates. Both self defense bills (house of worship & stand your ground) not surprisingly died in committee. The one handgun a month bill also died in committee.

And No. 5397 AN ACT DECLARING GUN VIOLENCE A PUBLIC HEALTH CRISIS AND ESTABLISHING THE OFFICE OF GUN VIOLENCE PREVENTION AND ADVISORY COUNCIL ON GUN VIOLENCE PREVENTION AND INTERVENTION was moved to No Action which apparently means the bill died in the committee.

This has been a magnificent win!  they are certainly coming back next year, but we will be there once again fighting from the ramparts.  Now we also hope for SCOTUS to hear cases on AWB and magazine bans this year.
