Any idea what basic FMJ range ammo went for in the Summer 2019 for pre-Wuhan and Pre-Biden?  How many cent’s/round?  My neighbor has some family coming over and he wants to take them to the range this weekend and they have a 9mm & 45ACP pistols – they can’t find those calibers in stock anywhere local to Columbia.  Being a good neighbor (and NRA instructor trying to get new shooters in the sport) offered some of my personal 9mm .  I have a few boxes of 9mm that I bought a many years ago, but back then it was cheap and I don’t want to price gouge.  This is what I have to offer him:

I think it was mostly less than 10-12 cents per round when I bought those boxes, I reload 9mm so I have plenty, so I'm just looking for pre-2019 pricing per round...

~$0.17 CPR in 2018/2019 if I remember right. You can still see some old pricing on TargetSport's site.

Towards the end of 2019 I was paying .08 per 9mm round, .15 for 45 ACP and .17 for 223-556 My LGS currently has 9mm target for $39.99 per 50

No shit.  With the 2019 Walmart ammo clearance I don't need to load 556, 9mm,  and 45acp for years.  That allowed me to conserve my reloading supplies.

As an example of local pricing:

On 19APR2019, I received an email from Valley Firearms that was advertising 500 rounds of Winchester 115 FMJ, with an ammo can, for $119.99.

On 15MAY2020, I received an email from Hoffman's advertising a sale on 9mm FMJ. At that time, they had three offerings- Federal brass case $9.99, Blazer Brass #5200 $10.99, and Winchester for $11.99 (all 50 round boxes).

As an example of online pricing:

On 21JUN2019,  I received an email from Palmetto State Armory advertising 1000 round cases of "CCI 5200" 9mm ammo for $159.99. Based on a Google search, CCI 5200 refers to Blazer Brass 115 grain FMJ.

Not sure where you were finding those prices. 15 cents for 45ACP? I call BS on that price unless it was some steel cased crap or reloads.

Here is a copy of an invoice from an order I placed from SG Ammo August 2019.

I follow the prices pretty close and I belong to a group that finds deals on just about anything. Never saw prices like that.

All those prices were from the Great Walmart clearance and all brass from Remington, Federal. Bought it cheap and stacked it deep especially on the last day I was getting the lowest prices before they gave it away to the local PD. 300BLK was $4 a box of 20

Well the Walmart clearance was a special situation. OP was looking for actual retail pricing at that time. Telling about you deal finds is not really a help.

I knew about the Walmart stuff but did not bother trying to find it. You and the other neckbeards bought it all up.

Not a neckbeard, just a wise shopper that knows a deal when he see’s it There was still plenty to buy till the end, just a lot of people had too much pride than to shop at Walmart, now look at them

I think neckbearding would imply we planned to sell to make money.  Putting in the time to visit a few walmarts turned out to be a smart move in hindsight.

I have no qualms about shopping at Walmart. That ammo was a good deal but I was too late at the couple I tried. The neckbeard, @Inmyshadow, beat me to it. I did get lucky and bought a couple of clearance guns from a Walmart sale.

I focused on the self defense ammo that I normally never buy cause it’s very expensive and I am cheap

Not to Boss Hog in on the thread but while we’re on the topic....

Does anyone remember what normal prices were for 44 Mag and 44 special 1.5-2 years ago or whatever?

I never really paid attention back then because I had no need to.  That’s going to change.

Unfortunately, it’s a terrible time to buy rounds of any kind.  I haven’t had to buy in years.

44 mag ammo prices are scary.

I usually reload both of those calibers and have a pretty decent stash of older factory ammo as well. During normal times, it was pretty doable to find .44 MAG in the $35 to $40 range (for 50). .44 SPL is usually harder to find, and surprisingly expensive.

Here is a copy of an invoice. This order was from 12/23/2018 at Target Sports. I bought whatever I could find the best price on. I am collecting brass to eventually reload .44Mag

Thanks guys.  I’ll have to pick up at least a few boxes.

I can't have a paper weight.

Reloads down the road...

Just found a 250-pack of Blazer Brass 9mm that I got 2 years ago at Hoffman's.  Sticker said $49.99.  If only that were still the case.

For 9mm I also remember a range of .16-.19 or so per round, from steel case to brass.
