Was at Shot this week, and got to handle this new model from Troy.

Was actually quite impressed. The quality of the build was very nice, and the pump action did not feel sloppy or half-@$$ in any way. Said the lower takes standard AR triggers and mags, but will not accept a semi-auto upper, something to do with the design of the lower. Due to not needing the buffer tube, a collapsible & adjustable FOLDING stock was added. Barrel length is 16", and caliber is 223 (not sure if it's 223 or 5.56 Nato). Said it will accept standard barrels too, would love to see someone swap a 300 AAC Black-out barrel onto it. Bet the pump action would be good for sub-sonic rounds and be quieter due to no action to cycle. Action release is at the front of the trigger guard.

MSRP is $1,100 and it should be availible in the next couple months.

And no, I have no affiliation with TROY. Just thought I'd pass it along.

$1100 for a pump action AR that isn't interchangeable with existing platform

A bolt gun will be way more accurate and come in at a lower cost.

I do like the innovation, but not at that cost.

Well it's better than the non existent AR type that many have now. People want an AR...... It's this for 1,100 or a Pre ban for 2g+

Actually, a pump action rifle is pretty quick to cycle and get back on target. If it was made to take a beating, is durable, and remain reliable, I wouldn't mind having one. And for all those up and coming AR shooters who where to young to buy a rifle before the Ban, is there a better choice? And I see a big market in all the ban states.

The price is a bit steep, but that is the price you pay for the privilege of living in a glorious state like CT. After all, we area so much safer after 1160!

Imagine one of those CT compliant and in 12G???? No flash suppressor and I guess no folding stock... Dammit. They have ruinned even pumps for us...

Interesting but yes I'd take a bolt gun first too. Looks like CT is shaping up to be a like Australia right now... pumps and bolts only.

From what I remember, pumps are banned in Australia as well. Hell, the pump action Remington 7600 is on the latest list.

love the idea. I know nothing about laws and I hate thinking like this but if they see an AR in pump form wont that make them go after that avenue faster? Sorry

What if the design is being "filtered" into the system on a schedule?

Someone should make a cheaper version of the MRAD (not barret) in 308 or 556....oh and also not be TROY

A bolt AR would be way more sexy than a pump.....

Wish Stag or someone would make this, kinda like a Mini 14, uses AR upper. Its called "Herring Sporting Rifle", not sure how many were made.

The recoil mechanism was located in the stock and the bolt was shaped differently so it could recoil downwards. I use the past tense "was" because the rifle never saw production. It was, in effect, a "red herring"
