yes, he is the one selling it.

and it's not an auction, it's a fixed price.

That original article about the $80,000 bid is pretty sweet. If I had a $100,000 to donate/buy that pistol would I still even live in CT?....OK, I would donate and then leave!

Well, in all fairness the link from Gunbroker DOES say "Auction" in the link itself

Wonder why they set it as a fixed price instead of letting it get up to big $...

I would think that if they brokered it through somebody like Julia or RIA, in a traditional auction, they would be more likely to realize that price (or higher)... in a much more timely fashion than may end up occurring on an online (particularly fixed price) listing.

That gold image of the hunter and the bear should of a bear porking Malloy doggy style.

Nice pistol.

This is pretty cool - Smith & Wesson model 629  (serial) # 1 is being auctioned by Hoffman's.  It originally sold at auction for $80,000 back in 1979  to Marvin Hoffman and the money went to benefit Olympic shooters.  The current owner (unnamed) will put all proceeds go to fight the new legislation.  Bidding starts at $100k

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=372728106

(by way of "new math" that looks to be $20k if it sells at $100k).

$80,000 in 1979, adjusted for inflation, is $257,000 today. So he's actually taking a loss.
But I love the spirit!
