House bill 7114 was going to be voted on in the Judiciary Committee on Tuesday. Members of CRALRI have hammered the members with calls and from what I hear it's been tabled for now. It doesn't mean it's gone away. The Assault Weapons Ban is back up this year too. Members of CRALRI are planning a meeting to take place. If you're feeling like you might have something to offer you are welcome to show up. These are a bumch of average, down to Earth, guys trying to organize something real. Check out, or even join, www.cralri.com

OUr meeting plans are under "pot luck". The top thread.

Just out of curiosity, are RI gun bills typically the domain of the Judiciary Committee? What about RI Public Safety?

Curious, because here in CT there are typically three committees that deal with gun bills: Public Safety, Environment, and Judiciary.

In CT the Judiciary Cte. is supposed to deal with legislation that concerns punishment for breaking laws.
Ironically, it is the Cte. that produced CT's 1993 "AW" ban which passed by ONE vote at a 3:00 AM
quorum called when the bill hit the floor for a vote.

Public Safety is where most of the CT gun bills originate and Environment deals mainly with gun bills related to hunting.
