Ponca City ...hmm spent 3 days over there at a crime scene school. There are a couple of statues.
It is flat and treeless. Downtown was kind of nice. I spent an hour and saw all the sites. You might check Okla Dept. Of Tourism's website for ideas. Or of course you could always drive to Stillwater do the Eskimo joes thing and chase coeds..

Oh I forgot there was a couple of strip clubs in town, I did not go. Did not think the boss would like
a marked unit in one of those. Try Head Country BBQ. I love the sauce. The BBQ is good.

Hmmmm.  Ponca City....let's see.  Well, if you're interested in stately old homes a visit to the Marland Mansion might be a pretty good way to kill a couple of hours.  E.W Marland is (was) a former Oklahoma governer and oil man.  He founded the Marland Oil Co., which, I believe eventually grew into what is now Conoco-Phillips.  There is a pretty decent city lake just east of town, and the much larger Kaw Lake about ten miles or so east of town on state highway 11.  Also, IIRC, the cafe at the airport used to put on a pretty good Tex-Mex feed.  Sorry, but nothing else comes to mind right now.  Hope you enjoy your stay!

There is a great steakhouse there. I believe it's called the Rusty Barrel. It's behind the local theater.

Steaks are fantastic.

Other than that...come to Stillwater.

Just got back to Houston from Ponca and I really liked it. Ate at the rusty barrel and was really good, but must say that Cobbs family restuarant had the best meatloaf I have ever had. I wanted to order some to take home to Houston. Nice people every where I went, only got to eat at Red Lobster in Stillwater but the place looked like a great town to party. Will have to save a weekend for that place when I go back. Very relaxing wish I had a chance to visit the county fair that just started. Althoue I felt like eyes were burning my back when I was cheering the Longhorns at the local bar but other then that was a great place. Thanks Ponca City!!!
