WOW!
I logged into my account (probably the first time since setting it up I think...) and see what you are talking about. Its probably worse then you realize. I just sent an email to the VCDL Leadership email address that was listed on the website. Hopefully someone takes care of this soon. |

“People have to set their preferences to not show their address, etc. It says it clearly on the sign up page. When we add people we set their preferences to private.”

Yes Bulldog.. but how do I remove my name and city/county from the searchable database? It appears there is no way to make your name 'private'. So anyone can pay $25 for membership, and get access to the entire VCDL member list. Some of those members have their addresses marked as public/searchable (mistakenly? Especially if the default is to allow that info to be displayed?). Others... its only a simple Google search to find their actual address.
I would like to be removed from this searchable list completely please. How can that happen? |

Update:
The problem has been resolved on the website. The webmaster changed the settings to only show the nickname of members, and it is only searchable by people you are connected to within our system. So if someone posts on the website social pages it will show their nickname. People can request to connect, but cannot search for someone who they aren't already connected to. Make sure that your email addresses, home addresses and phone numbers are set to private in your profile if you don't want your connections being able to view this info. When we add people to the system we set them to private but if someone joins from the website they must do this manually. We're trying to balance protecting people's privacy while offering a forum where they can communicate without fear of being Zucked. MG |
