I'm working with my local sheriff to try and convince him to sign off on my form 1/form 4.

If you have recently had a form 1/form 4 signed off by a Sheriff in Virginia, can you please reply with the sheriff's jurisdiction and name?  Thanks.

Try and let us know.   I am about 99% sure Shannon Taylor won't!

I don't have to try yet.  Maybe this summer when the new rules take effect.  Sheriff Wade is supposedly a conservative so, maybe?

I wouldn't even bother asking her - it might cause her to actually investigate what a "NFA weapon" is and cause trouble, including bad press for the (elected) sheriff if he does sign.

As far as Mike Wade (sheriff) is concerned, he's a R party man, but he's also a politician in Henrico, which has a big mix of FSA types and soccer moms. If he is willing to sign (I don't know, I've always had a trust and help others create them) then that is good news, but I'd try not to publicize it TOO much. I'd bet that part of the reason he is willing to do it is that it's such a "below the radar" thing.

as mentioned in the tread VA-gunnut posted  Chesterfield will,

got a from 5 signoff  a year or so ago,

they do expect you to drop off your paperwork, and make an Appt to pick it up, and a short chat with someone in the office

no big deal to me,  in and out in 15 minutes

Warren County is A-OK. Last year I dropped my paperwork off in the morning and picked it up after lunch. Never talked to anyone other than the woman behind the glass.

Anyone know if Rockbridge County is NFA friendly or not?

I don't see Suffolk City on the list.  I've heard he won't, but nothing concrete.  Anybody know for sure?

In the city, you have your choice between the Sheriff and the Chief of Police (as well as the Commonwealth's Attorney).
