I might be in... was planning on heading down there sometime in October anyway.  Saturdays are better for me since it takes all Sunday to clean the toys.

Its a no go for me Labor Day weekend.  I'm booked on a special offshore trolling (fishing, not being Imbroglio while in a boat ) trip on my favorite fishing boat.

Grrr....soounds like as good a reason to leave Annapolis for the day as I can think of.  That race prettty much shuts down town for the day.

Hite Hollow is not a "course" its just a free range thats maintained by the DGIF and we're just a bunch of guys who like to shoot the shit out of paper/steel/tannerite/fillintheblank.

from VDGIF...
"Hite Hollow Shooting Range: Near Augusta Springs. This range is open from sunrise to sunset every day for firing rifles, pistols and shotguns at stationary targets. Moving targets such as clay pigeons and bottles are prohibited. From Staunton, take Route 254 west to Buffalo Gap, then Route 42 south about eight miles to Augusta Springs. Take Route 845 about a half-mile to Forest Development Road (FDR) 82, and follow this road about one mile to the range. (Deerfield Ranger District, 540-885-8028.)"

If it's DGIF property, like the Chickahominy range, isn't paper the only legal target allowed?  I'd love to setup some steel spinning targets for my son if permissable.  Thanks.  Sorry if this off topic.

well the previous ranger in charge said steel was fine, however there has been a change in "management" recently and ASFAIK, we havent been told yes or no by the new guy.  So, we've been using it anyways until told otherwise.

They are stationary and not explicitly prohibited.

sold both CZ's thank G-d.

The three things I'll REALLY be looking forward to bringing are my FN TPS which has yet to be fed buckshot.  I can't wait to see how she patterns and am praying she stays tight within the EOTECH's circle at 25 yards!  Also, my romak III and saiga 308 need to be sighted in. Both have rare and unique scopes and I don't think the NRA range is long enough to do them justice!

Should have a few later on. It was fun as usual. We shot the steel you gave me. I made a hanging stand which we positioned at 150 yards. Woden's Socom rocked it. Definitely a difference between the 5.56 and the 7.62 large. I also made a stand that we shot with pistols only at about 17 yards. It hel;d up well and took anything we could throw at it.

There were a number of locals with bolt guns who had every reaction from disdaim to completely blown away by our arsenal.

We had:

Every manner of AR15 you can think of
6.8 SPR
AR 50
Krink
UMP45
Benelli M1 S90
SA m14 Socom
HK91
all manner of pistol

Weather was great and Silicon Wizard, Woden and I showed up from the boards. Although I like all the usual suspects, having a few number of participants was fun too.

Pics and vids to follow.
