Okay, I wanted to start a thread to discuss what gear everyone is bringing. We can use this as a checklist as we pack up. So far, this is what I'm planning on bringing:
- XM177E2 - 2 M4 carbines - Glock 17 & 19 - plenty of magazines for the above - case of 5.56 - case of 9mm - spare LPK - tools - cleaning supplies - drop leg AR mag pouch - fobus Glock holster - pistol mag holder - Wilderness 5 stitch belt - shorts and long pants - boonie hat - sunscreen - gloves - cooler with plenty of water and gatorade - foldout chair - eyes and ears - Lula Loader I'm probably forgetting something but the purpose of this thread is to share ideas and hopefully figure out what we are missing. |
- SP1 Clone
- Armalite M15A4(T) Carbine - Ultralight Carbine - WASR-10 Hicap AK-47 - Mossberg Pursuader 12 ga - Ruger P89 - plenty of magazines for the above - 50 buck shot shells - 2 cases of 5.56 - case of 7.62x39 - case of 9mm - spare LPK - pistol holster - shorts and long pants - sunscreen - cooler with plenty of water and gatorade - foldout chair - eyes and ears - video camera |
So far I'll have:

They work pretty well for this kinda deal. Ross |
I was thinking the same thing! I can see if I can borrow one from the team, we have 3 of them. Want me to check on one? |
postban RRA M4gery
preban Benelli M1 G21, holster & other gear G34, holster and gear (most likely shooting this left handed) 1911 Springfield and gear ammo & mags for everything shorts Gore-Tex parka both BRD t-shirts ball cap Oakleys and ear protection chair AR armorer tools H20 $$ for gear and ammo |
Yeah, I was looking at the one they sell at Galyan's and they want $100 for it. It's neat, but not that neat. I suppose there's a cheaper one at Wally world or K-mart, but if you could borrow one for free, that's even better. Ross |
I have 1 or 2 of those very big blue tarps but no way of suspending them. You're free to use them if you can find a way. |
H&K USP45 Fullsize w/ Safariland 6004
Glock 21 w/ Uncle Mike's kydex DW 1911 w/ Galco Combar Master Remington 1187 Remington 700 Custom .308 AR10A4 Oly M4gery w/ LMT 16.1" Armalite A2 lower RRA M4-type upper 1000rds of 7.62x51 1000rds of 5.56x45 500rds of 45acp 200rds of .308 match ammo folding chairs |
I'll borrow one or two from the team to set up. I've already helped pay for these so it's no problem to borrow them when I need to. The take less than two minutes to setup and take down. Update: I have one tent lined up and I can get another if you guys think we'll use it. |

For the big umbrella shades, the best I've seen is at Costco. I bought one from WalMart from $100 and when I got home realized that it didn't tilt which is a pain in the ass as the sun starts to set. The ones at Costco are around $100 too but they tilt and appear to be better quality.
BTW. we bought ours after seeing how well they worked for other people at the BRD last spring. I'm bringing: target AR 3-gun AR shotgun pistol lots of ammo holster pistol mag carriers rifle mag carriers shotshell holders vice and "the toolbox" umbrella folding chairs folding table ice chest filled with water snacks |
The one thing I forget to put on my list is a Lula loader!
Also, should I bring an AK? I can bring either my SAR-1 or SAR-2. What say you? |
I am bringing my WASR-10 Hicap AK and 700 rounds almost only for the bump firing. |
Okay, AK-47 or AK-74? |
UM!!!! BOTH |
I should have known! Actually after digging them out of the closet I decided to bring the SAR-1. I'm already bringing too much as it is...unless someone that has never shot an AK-74 wants to give one a test drive? |
I have never fired an AK-74 and I would love to give it a test drive. No, I'm not lying. |
I have one of those EZ-up canopies. I can bring it. Any thoughts on carpools yet? I hate to drive down there alone. Maybe even a early a.m. breakfast along the route so there can be a caravan. I have a nice new Ram Quad cab, but I have visions of a flat tire in the boonies with a truck full of guns.
Just IM some of the guys from you neck of the woods, I'm sure you'll be able to work something out. |
If you're bringing an AK-74 I'll go ahead and bring my SAR-2 so you can have a go with it. |
I don't have a AK-74...thats an AK-47 in the picture. ETS..oh wait...SAR-2 is your AK-74, right? |
My bad. I meant to say, If you're bringing an AK-47 I'll go ahead and bring my SAR-2 (AK-74) so you can have a go with it. I'm tired |
I'm tired to. I'm going to bed now. Can't wait to fire the AK-74. And all will be welcome to try any of my stuff as well. |
I got it ready, my wife is glad to see "that big heavy thing I have to dust" go. |
Yeah Hoplophile. You shot 9x19s SAR2 faster than I can . It's like shooting a .22 Magnum, I imagine with an AK74 brake is must really be light. |
It will be me plus a buddy going down to BRD.

You are a stone cold BADASS. I hereby challenge anyone else to wear a sombrero while shooting the 3 gun match. Extra points if you're using Mexican web gear. I should have a plain jane USGI style setup hanging around here somewhere. Anyone who wants to use it is more than welcome. |
I can't wait to see the Slayer" Reign In Blood" T-shirt!!!
I had one at one point in my life...a very, very long time ago. |

I have looked over the BRD thread and i didnt see any times. What time do we arrive and when is dinner planned?
Things are scheduled to start around 9:00am. IIRC, the dinner started somewhere between 5:30-6:00pm at the last one. |
I had my postban Norinco last time with a 75rd drum and didn't even get it out of the case. Not gonna happen this time! |
I am looking forward to shooting someones AR180B. I have never even held one, or seen one outside of a picture.
I believe Ross has one. IM him and ask him to bring it. BTW, I packed up the AK-74 for you last night. |
I'll be bringing one and you, or anyone else, are welcome to shoot it. Ross |
Thanks, to you both, I am looking forward to it. |
Nope. I'll be leaving Friday, but I'm not too sure what time. I have Friday off, but I'm working Thrusday night, so I'll probably take a short nap then hit the road. I want to be there early enough to have a go at the three-gun on Friday PM, but that's just the plan for now. I have plenty of room in the cop car though. Ross |
I'm about ready. Still need an Aimpoint and ammo for the carbine.

I'll be there with my 180B and would be happy to let you try it. |
Do we know what dealers will be at BRD? This will be my first, I hope there will be opportunity to buy some gear too!
Why, G&R Tactical, OF COURSE! Trust me, you won't have any money left when you're done with them...
I've been working 70 hr weeks with the storm damage. Empty my wallet boys!
