They are calling HB 1091 tonight. Call your rep to oppose this bill. The bill adds more restrictions to dealers. Not sure what else is in it.

Check your email from ISRA.

I think this bans person to person transfers without going through a FFL.  I wish the ISRA would be a little more detailed and clear in their emails.  smh

The ISRA is a hot mess...
this is the alert we sent out 3 days ago:
Urgent Notice:

The anti-gun groups are calling for a “digital day of action” on Thursday, May 27th, to try to get the FIX the FOID bill passed before end of legislative session. This outrageous bill, HB1091, demands fingerprints for gun owners, bans private transfer of firearms among law-abiding citizens, cuts the 10 yr license to 5 years, all which could raise the cost of a FOID card to $50 or more.

Call your State Representative immediately and demand they vote NO on HB1091.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is a renewed push for HB1092 which has passed out of the House and is now up in the Senate. This bill removes hard fought Constitutional protections negotiated in the Firearm Restraining Order Act and weaponizes firearm restraining orders against Illinois gun owners by expanding the definition of who can request these orders.

Call your State Senator immediately and demand they vote NO on HB1092 and SB1165.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Not getting the negative attention it deserves, SB1165 “FOID Modernization” is poised to rear its ugly head again.

Promoted as a way to bring the FOID Act into the 21st Century this bill, in its current form, is simply a more modern version of the delays and fees that have turned the FOID Card into gun control piracy.
No one, NO ONE, claiming to support the Second Amendment in Illinois should support this bill.

> Creates a politically slanted review board (appointed by Gov. Pritzker) who will have the ultimate say in FOID card appeals, no clear and convincing evidence necessary.

> Introduces fingerprints for obtaining a FOID card – although voluntary at this time, we know the high probability of that becoming required later on.

> Fees for the “automatic renewal” FOID card and its renewals under this act are not defined. The agency receiving the fees will be in control of determining the amounts.

Please call you State Senator AND co-sponsors Sen. Terri Bryant and Sen. Don DeWitte immediately to inform them of your opposition to this legislation. Explain to them, and to your own State Senator, the glaring problems with this bill.

House passed this terrible bill with no Republicans.  We'll see what happens in the Senate.
Mandatory fingerprints
increased fees
no private sales
5 year FOID
bunch of other crap!

It appears the democraps aren't going to try to move this ugly beast to the Senate.  Anything can happen but looks like it is maybe dead.
Now they are going to push HB562 a less horrible bill but still horrible.

What about SB1165 on the Senate side?

And all this ...pass it, we will fix it later...does anyone believe that?

That bill is now HB 562.  They have been promising fixes to this language since the ISRA announced they helped write it and Republicans needed to vote for it.
They are working on more language now...What ever fixes they put in it, it will still be a bad bill and should be treated as such.
The ISRA no longer works for gun owners.  We usually don't publicly complain but, this is beyond the pale.

For those not following directly or via IllinoisCarry, the various bills fell short of passing by the end of the session.  They didn't fail votes, they just never got around to getting everything done.  The bills are still alive, but should face bigger hurdles if they want to pass them later this year.

Don't know for sure but, we heard they didn't have votes in House to concur.

That doesn't surprise me.  The Senate's version was slightly less egregious than what the House wanted, and the anti-gunners in the House likely wanted nothing to do with that. Now they can take their time and continue to blame law-abiding gun owners for the lack of a bill passage and all the shootings that will take place in Chicago over the summer.

Edited for typos.

But...But...But...didn't the Gun Dealer Licensing law stop the gun violence????  Shutting down those nasty down state FFL dealers should have already fixed their problem!  It almost seems like all their legislation doesn't touch the issue of bad people killing people!!!!!

Now being after the 5/31 session, they will need more votes to get anything passed this year...is that correct?
