I renewed my FOID on 6/7. It expires in September. I just got my new FOID today. It was dated 6/11. Don’t know if it makes a difference, but I had provided my fingerprints when I got my CCL in 2014.

I filed for renewal Nov of 2020, my card shows expired as of Feb 2021. Still nothing...

Filed in November of 20. Online status still says pending.
Can't buy a gun or a single round of .22 with an expired piece of plastic in my wallet. At this point has anyone heard of any lawsuits regarding this? |

I recently received my renewed CCL, but for the year that all I had was an expired one, I had no problem buying guns and ammo with the expired card. Everyone was aware of the extensions that the ISP publicly issued.

Midway gave me a hard time about it. Said computer wouldn’t accept expired FOID. They did accept my CCL.

I tried renewing today. Website has been down for most of today.

I'm up for renewal in december so the button will open up for me at some point soon here.
Question: Did the recent piece of trash law that was passed sync up FOID and CC Licenses somehow? Like will I only be getting my new FOID with an expiration date the same as my CCW or something similar? |

(430 ILCS 65/5) (from Ch. 38, par. 83-5) Sec. 5. Application and renewal.
(c) If the Firearm Owner's Identification Card of a licensee under the Firearm Concealed Carry Act expires during the term of the licensee's concealed carry license, the Firearm Owner's Identification Card and the license remain valid and the licensee does not have to renew his or her Firearm Owner's Identification Card during the duration of the concealed carry license. I think the effective date is Jan. 1, 2022 Mike |

The ISP is suppose to somehow magically combine the CCL and FOID so if you have a valid CCL, everyone will know your FOID is valid too????
You might ask ISRA, the ones that helped write and pass the crappy law! |

I submitted an application online to renew my FOID a few minutes ago. My pet Border Collie knows more about computers than I do and completing the online application was easy.
The clock is ticking and I'll post when I receive the new card. |

I got my new FOID in the mail last week. It was just over a year since my previous card expired, so probably 15 months overall.

I just logged onto the ISP website to check the status of my renewal. The website shows a FOID issue date of 09/07/2021.
I submitted fingerprints electronically when I obtained my FCCL Instructor certification several years ago. That may account for it taking 6 days from time of application to time of issue. I received my new FOID in the mail today, 09/13/21. It took 12 days from the time I applied for renewal online until I received it in the mail. |

It would appear that having fingerprints on file with the ISP is the key to fast FOID turn around time if you apply for renewal this year.

Not a renewal, but I moved and updated my address. Took about a week total from doing that online and getting the new FOID and CCW cards. I have to renew my carry license in February, we'll see how it is then.

I cannot comment on renewals, but, my GF applied for a new FOID on 01 Oct and it was in her mail box in two weeks.
On the other hand...my brother had a one year wait for his concealed carry permit to be issued. |

Renewed mine 2 weeks ago from today and today it came in the mail.

If I'm not mistaken, IL is implementing new renewal and cancellation procedures for FOID and CCL January 1, 2022. Supposedly people will get new cards with no expiration dates and they will be set up for automatic renewal. Vendors will have to call into a number to check, and LEO's can check via LEADS.

Quoted: Still waiting on my wife's 8/31/20 CCL renewal. View Quote Amazing sad state of affairs as usual. I'm wondering if they are just behind as usual, or if the are intentionally delaying until after the first of the year so they can send out the new cards that no longer contain any expiration date? I read under the new public act that was passed that they are supposed to send out notices 180 days in advance for cards set tp expire. You might want to contact your local LEO/agency and ask them what status is on your wife's card is, as they should be able to pull that up on their LEADS system now. Given new card won't have any expiration date on them, that's about the only way we can check at this point. |

According to WGN 9 news fingerprints aren`t required, but encouraged, I`m wondering if the delays are on people who didn`t submit fingerprints.

This past summer, the applications submitted without fingerprints showed a slightly shorter license processing time. |

Going on 13 months for CCW renewal and sent FOID renewal about 30 days ago. It expires next month.
Not holding my breath on either one arriving in this calendar year either. What a joke of a system. |

Quoted: Applied for renewal 8/3,new card in the mailbox today,8/23. View Quote I helped a buddy (He's not real computer literate) renew his and his sons a few months ago and they both came in less than 2 weeks. MY renewal for CCW has been over a year now and I'm assuming FOID that I just sent in will be same. Riduculous. |
