Wow I wish I lived there, I think I am to far away.  Also I retract my 1st post I see the escorts were old and the prisoner is younger. The bad thing is once the sun goes down he will have a easier time moving around. and for the police that were escorting him. complacency kills.

I went over there just to check it out on my way home.  NIPAS and Cook County tactical units.  I saw a pick up truck zooming around with 5 operators in the back in full camo.  One guy had a ghillie suit and a long gun.  Reminded me of New Orleans with vehicles seemingly moving in opposite directions.  Chicago Police helicopter circling in a very narrow search pattern.  They seem to have him narrowed down to within a couple of buildings.  I hope they're right.  The AO is very small.  Just 4 square blocks.

Where at? I have to go by woodfield mall later and don't want to run into any trouble. I match his description to the T.

Oh, now ya done gone and did it...

NM - thought this was GD for a second.

SWAT guys?  Tactical Officers?  Riding around in a pick-up and in camo they looked like Blackwater guys.  I mean a ghillie suit?  Come on now.

I didn't realize EST was deployed.  I would have thought an ILEAS box, for sure.

Are you  serious? Man I hope you are kidding.

I grew up in Buffalo Grove and in about 1982 or so, no BS story two thugs from Chicago robbed a local business and actually kidnapped a friend of mine and his grandfather, as I recall, this was a long time ago. Anyway, Buffalo Grove was podunk back then and the old school cops got the bad guys without camo.

I remember back in like 81-82 a Wheeling Cop was shot in the head during a traffic stop by a local tramp's boyfriend who was a thug from Chicago. BG and Wheeling Cops got him, wheel guns, old school cop uniforms and all. No camo involved.

I wonder how police work was done for centuries before suburban police departments were given budgets to shop at Cheaper Than Dirt.

I hope the guys that went to pick up this POS are ok. I hope the law catches this thug and locks his ass away.

Ghillie suit? Come on. There are two perfectly good wars going on if you want to wear a Ghillie suit. I just don't see the need on the battle hardened streets of Arlington Heights.

Huh? Although I'm not sure they need camo, I have no doubt that the guys in this area can do their jobs at night.

Looks like he might have just carjacked a car on Hassell Rd in Hoffman Estates...

there are tons of helicopters and hassell rd is shut down.

they're saying he's now possibly in a Grey VW

The Jetta's license plate number is A392864, and Russo said Maday was wearing light blue jeans, a green t-shirt and a baseball cap. He is believed to have taken off westbound on Hassell Road.

The guys in the pick do not look like NIPAS EST.

Had a chance to talk about and to one SWAT DM who was involved in a (good) shoot in our TEMS class and at the ITOA TEMS event last year.

If it works to protect the citizens I'm refraining from a negative comment.

With out a doubt.

A friend and I wanted to check the scene out last night so we drove to the area where they originally thought he was held up around 9ish(Algonquin and Goebbert Road) to check the scene out. The police presence was insane. The highway was the same result. I was surprised road blocks weren't set up

That wasn't insane.  The majority of the officers and the command center packed up and left around 7PM.

After that, it was just AH and a few Cook County.  Heavy, but there were maybe 100-150 LE vehicles before that.

And to think.

That poor guy got all dressed up in a fucking ghille suit, only to have the...."tango"....drive his car into a pole.

Its almost like getting stood up on prom night when you're all sexified in your tux.  Terrible.

Dancing banana, I hereby release your fury of awesomeness on the poor soul who was unable to complete his afghan sniper stalk through the vast wilderness of the northwest suburbs to pick off the terrorist bank robber from 23 meters.  Poor guy even did a trig calculation since he was hiding in a tree 5 meters off the ground.  Then came a pole.

Gotta be precise, unless you're dealing with a crappy driver.  Then its just...what we call...a waste of total fantastic epic win.

Sad.  Just when you think you'll have your moment in the stars...gone.
