[ARCHIVED THREAD] - how is vegas as of late?

may be heading down there over xmas time period some time

had a friend down there saying things were a bit squirrly, and seemed to be a lot more shady folks on the strip

i have never had a problem before wandering around LV but this time, we would have the kids (16,20) tagging along

probably more interested in the Dam, Valley of Fire, etc. than the strip, but would be nice to show them "vegas" while there

thoughts? anything else for a family to do?
we would be coming over from palm springs....and don't even have to go to vegas per se, but thought it might be a good place to fly out of

if there is a better direction/location we should go from palm springs, please let us know--can change trip locations easy enough!

Don't come here. Numerous threads in GD about it. Because it is so cheap to visit here right now, it has attracted all of the hoodrats and gangbangers. Lots of crime. Take your family somewhere nicer.

Yeah, what 45PC said. If you're only interested in the dam and Valley of Fire type stuff those are good to go. But find a hotel well off The Strip. I knew this would happen when they let those hood rat Raiders come to town.

Dam website

Dam is mostly closed.

The Strip is extra rich and vibrant.

Very few shows are open, limited restaurants and stores too.

Don't forget the mask nazis everywhere. Spend your money somewhere else where you can actually do vacation stuff.

Amen! Stayed at the Venetian recently, and thought there was a rap concert going on. Strong smell of marijuana everywhere, ghetto types arguing with employees and security, and the strip outside was worse. Everyone walking with those cheap booze "Frozen daiquiris" in the long plastic tubes like it was a status trophy. Not the reputation the casinos want, but its getting there.

Reno has gotten worse as well.
