Anybody have suggestions/avoidances for lodging near Front Sight?

The Pahrump Nugget isn't a bad place. I haven't stayed there recently but used to when I was racing at SMMP. It's nothing special but it's clean and reasonably priced.

on the Vegas side the Silverton Casino is probably the one with the best access.  Bass Pro Shop is in the same building.  Some contract trainers we have come in like staying there, I personally have not.

I believe Saddle West in Pahrump is the "official" lodging, and may make takeout lunches for students. I've heard it's pretty downmarket, though. (Doubt there's anything upmarket in Pahrump)

Went to Front Sight (for the first time) last week and stayed at the Best Western in Pahrump. Not a bad place. They have a special rate if you mention you're going to FS, ~$60/night. They even offered rags to clean our guns with when we checked in (hoping the guests don't use the hotel linen I suppose).

saddle west or the nugget are probably your best bet for reasonably priced rooms.

Some friends and I did it a little differently and this may not be your thing but I figured I would throw it out anyway. We rented a big RV from Cruise America in town and camped outside Front Sight. Spit 4 ways it worked out to be about the same as one and a half days in one of the hotels. We had a blast. Camping but with all the advantages of the RV. A big plus was getting onto the firing line for dry practice at 7:30 meant leaving the RV at 7:20 and our "commute" at the end of the day was 5 minutes. We did bring lots of extra water for showers and we still ran out but the folks at FS let us refill from their water container, pretty cool.

We really did not get dinged for milage because round trip from Henderson to FS was around 100 miles. The savings on lodging and food was nice, we cooked our own breakfast and dinner and just made lunches so it was one trip to the grocery store beforehand. Had to be cheaper than eating out.

I plan on taking another class if the deal frenzy starts up again and plan on doing it the same way. Maybe not your thing like I said but it might be something to consider.

I stayed here too and thought it was a great place for the journey. Quite and no casino. (Plenty near by if you are into that.)

They had a very good free breakfast with everything from fruit to 'loaded with carbs and fat' to carry you thru the day. They would make you a sack lunch but we bought stuff at Wally World and used an ice chest.

As mentioned - ask for the FS rate.

I like the RV rental idea. FS is off the Hwy some miles and would be a great place to enjoy the desert. Even staying in Pahrump it was pretty much - get up - eat - go. Then after class - head back - cook food (we rented the 2 room suite with a full kitchen) - eat - sleep. No time to fool around.
