Will be going to Vegas during the Thanksgiving holiday.Staying downtown.Are there any bookstores nearby,gun shops anything else to do in the daytime?

There is a book store on Charleston just east of Rancho. It is a 2-3 miles from downtown and mainly deals in used books.

Yeah bookstores Borders,Barnes and Noble.I dont want to gamble all the time.Its me and my Spouse.

You going to have a car while here?  Plenty else to do that dosen't cost much if you have access to wheels.

Closest large bookstore to the Strip is probably the Borders in Town Center at the south end of the Strip, just before the freeway. If you like Italian food, there is a restaurant called "Brio" in the same shopping center which is quite good. Of course, there are ton of great restaurants in the casinos on the Strip itself.

I like the Gambler's General Store on Main St not far from downtown.  The sell all of the casinos' used decks of cards really cheap and have all sorts of other items that you don't see other places.  They even have a good book section if you are looking for anything gaming related.

Since you are staying downtown, go check out the men's restroom at Main Street Station.  The urinals are hung on an actual piece of the Berlin Wall.  Just be careful if you are taking a leak - women like to peek in to see this unique feature as well.  The 777 brewpub in Main Street Station is pretty good as well.
