I was wondering if anyone here on AR15.com knows anyone who is hiring. I do not have any certifications. I have worked in Retail/Customer Service jobs for the past 4 years. I also worked as a runner for 1 year. I was wondering if anyone knew of anyone who needs a new employee. I work hard, learn quick. I have a few people on this website that know me personally, I can provide a resume, and references if needed. I have been laid off for the past 6 months, and have been in search of a job since. Thanks for your time.
P.S. I normally do not ask for help, unless really needed. Any help is greatly appreciated. |

We recently hired two engineers from Craiglslist postings, so they're not all bs
Unfortunately we're not hiring now or I'd have you send me a resume. Hang in there. |

I work at NV Energy (formally Nevada Power), you can check the job postings at NVEnergy.com
They are usually looking for meter readers, operators (thats what I do) or something. Meter guys start out about $20 per hour, and operators quite a bit more than that. I haven't looked lately but they usually have a couple openings. |

I'll tell you I did the online thing for a while. Didn't work for me. Sign up for a staffing agency or 4 in the area. Aerotek, AppleOne, Manpower are a few that might be able to find you something. Call them once or twice a week to remind them to hunt for you or they will forget you.
I've gotten a couple of bites from craigslist but haven't been successful yet. Interviews then no offer. I've even seen major companies advertise locally on craigslist and NOT on their website. I recently had an office assistant tell me pounding pavement works better than online. |

Anyone interested in making good money with NV Energy needs to sign up for the "Operator Hiring Pool." Its not like equipment operators, is power plant operators. Completely different field.....anyway, operators start at over $30/hour and have decent benefits. I have been here 8 years and its a good job......lots of overtime. We have vacancies at the plant where I work, we are just waiting for corporate to get off the fence and post the jobs for hiring. Anyway, once you sign up for the operator pool, you will take a test, get an interview and if you make the pool then you will get a job in the order of your score. Its not a quick or easy process but its well worth the effort. Please don't shoot the messenger or gripe about......"this is why my power bill is so high." Believe me, its not. Your power bill is so high because of all the Executive bonuses that are in the MILLIONS each year. |

I do not work for NV Energy, but I Seriously doubt that meter readers start at 20 an hour.

They are in a different area that we are, I was guessing at $20 as I had never looked it up. According to the contract they start at $17 and some change, with raises every 6 mnonths untill they top out at about $23. Sorry, I should have looked it up before stating a number. |
|
I should have never said a word, the O.P. is looking for work and it wasn't my intention to turn this into a tit for tat argument. I really thought $20 an hour was inflated, I thought it would be more like $11, and didn't want the guy to get his hopes up. $17 an hour to start is damn good.Put in a good word for him

I'm a low voltage tech, and my two most recent hits were on craigslist for 50k/year. ymmv

I dont have any "pull" in the metering department, but I actually sit in as a member of the interview board for the operator hiring pool......so I will keep you guys posted as to when the pool opens up. |

I had 5 job offers from Craigslist, 4 didnt return my calls, nor did the email me back after they said I was hired, and would contact me. 1 was an overnight armed security company, and I was never paid my wages for a 14 hour shift at 20 bucks an hour. Seems some other people had that problem.... o well...

I am looking for another OBGYN to practice with me at my office.

I am looking for another OBGYN to practice with me at my office. How about an apprentice OBGYN? I have a basic working knowledge of the parts and systems. I got my job from Craigslist. One thing I have seen, especially now that I sometimes do hiring, is that employers are impressed when you ACTUALLY go to the location and fill out the app, introduce yourself. I got hired because my printer was broken, I figured a drive to Lake Mead would do me good, the girl behind the counter thought i was cute (too bad she has a girlfriend), and I was willing to do ANYTHING. I applied for a position that I was way overqualified for and they hired me on as management. I have a stack of applications from Feb to now that is probably 6 inches deep, so when someone comes by, I am more inclined to hire them because i see they want it and aren't just firing off resumes. Good luck bro! |

Seriously, the St Rose hospital system has a few openings for housekeeping (per-diem) and EKG Tech (part-time, nights-easy to do with minimal training).
UMC has housekeeping, food service, and public safety openings (per-diem). The Valley Health System (Valley, Spring Valley, Desperate Screams Desert Springs) has numerous openings full-time and per diem for housekeeping, transport, food service, etc. Mesquite Hospital has a food-service opening. If you went to community college (CSN) and got CNA training, the job market would be wide open, especially if you are willing to work anywhere. Not sure of your salary requirements or if you need FT employment, but hope this helps! |

The main Contractor at the Nevada Test Site is hiring. They have many positions open. You may just fit in. They are off Losee Rd. In N. LV. Otherwise, check out Wackenhut if you like to go out into the field and work lots of OT. You'll make lots of $$ working OT for them but the shuttle bus commute is a bitch..
Also, you may need to get a clearance, so make sure you can pass a long ass background check which includes interviewing your family, friends, and others in your distant family that are immigrants. BTW, the places that say the job is located in Area 23, Area 4, Area 43, etc. Are all out the the field. They pay more for being out in the field plus you get to work 4-10s. Other than that, the jobs at Losee Rd. are a 9-80 schedule. They also pay weekly which is GREAT! Good luck! |

I work for NSTec out at the Test Site so can give you a little bit of a heads up. Don't let the lack of a degree stop you from applying to every job here that looks good. They value experience much more than a piece of paper. If you already have a clearance that's a huge plus, but just being able to get one is good too.
The salary ranges are huge. A is from $39K - $66K, F is $76K - $129 When you're applying, look at the job description and requirements. Use exact words from those in your resume. The folks in HR review all the resumes before sending them to the manager who's doing the hiring. If your resume doesn't somewhat match the job descrition you won't make it past HR. |

They'll train you. They're the security contractor for the Test Site. ALBOB, are you at the site or at Losee? Did you work there a few years ago when Bechtel and Lockheed still had the contract? |

I started four years ago under Bechtel and worked at Losee. Now I'm up at the site. I'm in the Training Department.
