Love that show. Especially with the guys walking around the casino floors with ARs and AKs slung over their shoulders. Damn it feels good to be in Nevada. haha.

No, it's because we are avoiding you. I didn't want to have to be the one to tell you, but despite escaping the midwest, you still reek of corn and cheese. The stench conflicts with the fine aromatic bouqet of the hostess brand DingDongs.

Or you could just hide inside it and bitch when nobody "found you". In front does not equal inside.

I will be there sat. morning at open.

~400 miles. Between six and eight hours, depending on how heavy your foot is and whether you stop to take breaks. I usually make the trip in six and a half to seven with one ten minute break in Tonapah.

ETA: The route you take once you hit Schurz is also important. You could take 95A through Yerington to Fernley and shave about 30 miles off the drive, at the detriment to fewer miles on the freeway versus staying on 95 all the way to Fallon, then taking 50A (I think that's what it is?) to Fernley. The Fallon route is a little longer (eye eye arr see) but the Yerington route is more fun. Also, Yerington is fairly Yeringtawesome.

Should you choose to go to Yerington, you can head south through Smith Valley and into Gardnerville (fun drive, albeit about two hours longer than going the direct route) or just keep on 95A to Fernley, from where you'll get onto I80 west into Reno.

I'm certain that if you get driving directions from Mapquest or Google Maps, they'll tell you to turn west at Hawthorne, go over the mountains to Mono Lake and then follow 395 north. That route sucks balls on the northbound trip, but it's the way I take when I go to LA (South to Hawthorne, then west to 395, as it avoids the hairy hills-driving on 395 between Topaz and Mono lakes).

As always, your mileage may vary. Go forth and be excellent.

Yerington route is my Favorite.

Have you gone over 120 south of Lee Vining to Tonopah? That is a cool drive. The road undulates like a mother for about 5 miles in this one valley. I am talking 50 foot undulations. Lots of negative and positive G forces there.

But yeah, that is a bitch of a drive. top off your tank every stop you come accross if you are unframiliar with the car you are driving. That next valley may SEEM like a quick hop accross, until you realize that you have been driving through it for the past 1/2 hour and are maybe halfway through. Don't make Steve have to come get you.

Damn guys..I think I might fly. Southwest is $196.00 round trip. I got some friends that will meet me up there and give me a ride. Wonder if SW will let me fly with my guns up. hmmm.

Declare it at check in, locked case, less than 10lbs ammo, ammo in ammo box (not loose) or in mags, no ammo in case w/gun.

No problem.

I was there Friday; there were more people there than normaly on a weekend.
I picked up a few small parts and $1000 worth of ammo.
Overall, I found prices to be really high.
Inflated over my last Big Reno Show in 2005.
A Fed Ordnance M14 type was going for $1000. Last trip there I looked at one in as good of shape for $600.
I guess that I found out the my feeble collection could be worth some real moola by gun show prices.

This show was pretty rad. I ran into FSU Chris (totally bitching rifle you have there, man, I'm totally impressed), Ron's cousin Matt (he used to post here, I can't remember his username offhand) as well as about three or four other Gardnerville guys.

Hey Ron, Krieger (or Orieger, as his name badge indicates) says "hi."

I ended up selling my 16" carbine for more than it was worth. Score! I love transactions where both parties walk away smiling, thinking that they totally hosed the other guy.

The guys at the DPMS and Olympic tables were awesome, as was the Blackhawk vendor, between the three, they gave me almost $300 in discounts and package deals.

I can't stress enough how awesome the guys at the DPMS counter were. I'd go so far as saying that they were DPMawesome.

Rad show.

How come you fags weren't at the snack bar? I waited for like three hours?

What was Ammo going for? just curious. The first Big Reno Show usually seems to be the best the next one is lackluster and the rest are worthless

BoomTown show is May 11-13th Gatlingguns.com that one is so close to the Border you can see Kalistan. They (BoomTown) have been trying to hype it since the last one.

I guess it would'nt have anything to do with Cabela's interest/no commitment to build across from the Casino on I-80 west which City of Reno Mayor Bob Cashell has financial ties to AHEM.....I think theres a connection

Perhaps $340/1000 Federal .223 62gr would entice your wallet? How about 60 rounds of LC M855 in stripper clips and a bandoleer for $50?

Ammo is a f'ing joke at the gunshow now. These vendors are out of their minds, but the people who stand there saying "hmmm I think I might get some of that, that's a good price" were just to me.

I managed to find a few decent M1 Carbine magazines that weren't too outrageously priced, and I picked up some spare AR parts from the DPMS booth. Other than that, all I saw was overpriced used junk (and heard a few vendors crying about the gall people have in attempting to negotiate prices down... how dare they!).

Why does the gun market of today remind me of the real estate market of 2001?

YES! That's the one. Your new ACOG is just awesome to the maximum amount allowable by law.

I've resolved that once I can actually afford to buy new things, I'm going to get an Accupoint. I just wish that Trijicon made Accupoints with their Donut Of Death reticle. Not to say that the chevron or the graduaded ladder that you have on yours is bad, I just think the circle reticle is pretty cool.

I guess that goes back to my Unreal Tournament days, when I'd always pick the "open triangle" reticle for my HUD. But alas.

We should get together and shoot at rabbits some time. We can even make it an Alma Mater shootout and I can recruit other Dayton High grads.
