Packing.Org is down or crashed; I already tried that.  

My parents are driving up from Phoenix for a weekend in Vegas.  Neither have a NV ccw.

What are the open carry rules?  They are most worried about staying legal while driving.

Driving with the gun in the car is OK except in North Las Vegas and Boulder City.  Open carry is legal, but unusual.  These are my opinions, not legal advice BTW.

I have always found it amusing that yes this is a 'Open Carry' State the only ones to display there Pistola are from out of state ( I assume),,,why would one want to display there Firearm in 'Public Stride'...I will never know...the Freedom to CCW is Pride,to open carry is Foolish,,unless your PeepPee is that small

I guess maybe my peepee is small... when I come down outa the hills with my rig still strapped on in the open and I go into the 7-11 nobody even notices it.  Heck, I'm just going in for more coffee so I can get back up into the hills to blast some more.  Why would I want to undress?  I guess I'm just stoopid.

Three big problems with open carry:

-Nervous whackjobs soil themselves at the sight of an evil black pistol.  By itself, I could care less; but if it means long discussions with LEOs or casino security on a semi-regular basis, it just isn't worth it to me.

-You lose the element of surprise when you go for your gun.  "Here, I will give you my wallet" is much better than trying to draw and fire against someone already covering you with a firearm or other weapon at close range, and can clearly see what you are trying to do.

-Weapon retention.  I have never taken a class, read a book, etc.  If you are going to carry in a holster in plain view, it seems important to know how to retain your weapon, should someone decide to take it from you.

Just how I see it.  

Wolfpack, it is a hassle and annoyance to have to pay to get a CCW, but it is worth it until such time as we can get the laws changed to a situation like VT or AK.

edit:  No I don't think that open carry is something reserved for the not-so-well-endowed.  I would consider it while hiking, etc.

True enough on the deterence factor if they see it before they try and threaten you.  If you did a great job of keeping your gunside hip turned away, they may not even know you have it.  Then you get the same advantage as CCW I suppose.

I carry my Glock 29 SOB, but always concealed - can't imagine open carrying it that way.  I will probably get a tacticool thigh holster for "backwoods use" with the G29.

You are right that most robbers look elsewhere.  Of course, the ones that don't will probably just shoot first, and add your gun to their haul if they succeed.

Are you serious? Freedom doesn't involve being "permitted" by the state after going through a class and paying .gov to let you carry concealed.

Plenty of places where there is no CCW at all to me having a CCW is Freedom and we know Freedom has it's price.....just a opinion

I have an article regarding my arrest (long story, no I was not convicted) that says something to the effect of "The men had previously been seen strutting around town with handguns in shoulder holsters".
I had an "investigator" call my wife and ask her if I had robbed a bank on a different occasion. When i called and confronted him, he said someone in my apartment complex had called to report me as a 10-32 (man with a gun). Then he asked me if it was concealed. I admired his amazing powers of reason as I replied "I suppose not, if the neighbor saw it and called".
Had a friend get tackled by LEOs for open carry in Carson City.
I have everything on my CCW, so if I cover it up, I am covered. I occasionally flaunt and carry open, but only when I am out actually have a reason to, like camping, hiking or exercising my right as a Nevadan (read the State Constitution).

I agree alot of folks when I first moved here (1973) would'nt even think twice if you open carried.....sure is different now I still believe it again IMO it's foolish to show your defense to anyone the Freedom to Conceal Carry is my prefered condition and as stated
