Yes, a sad day.

But they have to adapt to the market and push their really good products.  Unfortunately they did not do that.  This is a natural end.  Maybe someone will be able to buy them, get them the hell out of antigun territory and revive them.

We need new reliable weapons with better ammo, better optics, better sights, and less intervention ( read anti-self defense and antigun laws) from government.  I don't care if it's a polymer gun or not, those have some very undesirable characteristics.  But here again it comes down to the right tool for the right job.  We just like tools.  Lots and lots of tools.  How many tools can I get on the CCW again?  Too bad they wont go for the UZI, I can get a trench coat.

Winchester Closing New Haven Factory

Will this affect the actual manufacturers of their firearms in Belgium, Portugal and Japan?

Winchester died when that crazy broad died.

+1 to ishoot with the historical part passing away.

The building will probably be salvaged by some fucktard who needs to launder money and create a halfway house or teen shelter of some sorts. It will sadly be packed with people playing ball who will never be legally able to own firearms anyway or have/will use(d) one in a crime past or present.

Sad..............

For the rest of the story www.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2006/1/20/171358.shtml.  It seems the government was instrumental in the closing of Winchester.  Not a big surprise really.
