Sparked an interesting conversation with a co-worker today:
She ranted and raved: "she doesn't have any problem with the proposed infringements of rights because neither she nor the 99% of the non-terrorist population of the US has anything to worry about because they don't do anything wrong, or engage in any suspect activities. But if those infringements make it any easier to catch terrorists and prevent them from plying their trade on American soil, she wholly supports trading those small rights to gain that extra security and safety."
Boy, she stepped right into it, and never even saw it coming. I quoted her Benjamin Franklin, and she just didn't know what to say. She just stood there with her jaw hanging open .... thinking.
It was kind of funny watching her question everything she had just said, but at the same time, also kind of sad ........
"Those who sacrifice freedom for safety deserve neither."
-Benjamin Franklin
