Assigned to FT MCCOY, while we're here what are some places a family with a 1 YO should visit?

Problem I have is it needs to be either a day trip or needs to be dog friendly.

You could visit my 12 cousins in  Sparta, see my father's chilhood house in Wilton or my mother's family farm in Kendell all from the Elroy/Starta bike trail.

https://dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/parks/elroysparta

you can rent bikes all over the area.

The house on the rock in Spring Green, WI is pretty cool.
There is nothing fun to do around Ft. Mccoy area.
But you can come over and shoot shit with me if you'd like.
There's a water park in Warrens at the three bears lodge I believe.

Yeah House on the Rock is not for young or old people. It's 4 hours long, full of hard to navigate stuff (low ceiling, twisting and sloping floors, darkness) and unheated. A kid in a stroller is going to be a challenge, and a kid held is also going to be a challenge.  It's worth a visit but do it when they are ten and can stay on their feet on their own for a long period.

The Wisconsin Veterans Museum is pretty neat for being such a small museum. You can hit a farmers market around the Capitol Square, hit the museum and get a beer out on the Memorial Union terrace. Pretty easy drive down from McCoy.

The deer park in the Dells is actually pretty neat.

The House on the Rock I would highly recommend but probably not the best for a 1y/o.

Ride the Elroy-Sparta trail.   Backpack carrier or bike seat for the kid.
