Both occupants apparently died on impact. From what I heard on the SD news conference live on FB, the plane came in, clipped some trees which took both wings off and the fuselage landed upside down in a creek next to the Rock River near Happy Hallow Park.
It crashed in a very hard to get to spot of the park and they had to use an airboat to get there. Witness who seen the plane going down said it took him 10 min to get to it. RCSD couldnt even get their atv's through the snow and downed trees. Also the authorities are listing the plane as an "experimental" type. |

Fox 11 is saying the pilot reported a problem to the tower shortly after takeoff and that the plane is a Velocity V-Twin registered to a owner in Appleton.
