When you buy shotgun shells for reasons other than BIRD hunting what do you buy and for what?

There is a wide variety of shells on the market. Slugs, buck, door breaching, etc. What do you buy and why?

all I buy is the cheap Win or Fed 100 packs, it works for blasting clays over the bean field with the kids and removing the occasional critters that get into the horse feed.

I have a sizable stash of slugs and assorted buckshot (TEOTWAWKI, just in case ) but since I rarely use any of it there is no need to buy more.

Now if you'd be talkin' reasonably priced .410 shot shells.

Other!  I buy cases of shells for trap and skeet shooting, usually Winchester AA's.  What is a dangerous game slug?  If I was going after dangerous game a sluggun sure would not be in my hands!

I haven't bought a box of non-lead hunting type shotgun ammo in ages. I typically only buy two kinds these days: 7or 8 for shooting clays, and buckshot for bump in the night stuff.

With that in mind, I may still have a box or two of OC, Flechette, dual slug, and slug/buckshot laying around from the early days of Allpurposeammo.com.

In the past two years, I have bough 7.5-8 for clay or 3-4 3" or 2.5" for waterfowl+turkey.

Slugs and OO Buckshot for target and self defense. I reload birdshot so I have no reason to buy that. i like shooting expired Gatorade bottleswith a slug :D

I buy regular rifled slugs for paper punching, and to practice for deer hunting.
The next most common shell I shoot is 00 buck.

I also voted "other." For now I just buy what ever is the absolute cheapest on the rack. Like others have said, I'm just using it to blast clay pigeon "zombies" or the occasional fun with a disc thrower. In the "want to buy" category, I'd really like to get some good 00 buck to use for home defense, but I have yet to lay down the cash for that. Once I learn how to use the MEC 8567 12 gauge reloader my grandfather gave me, none of that will be an issue anymore.

I've got a couple boxes each of buckshot and slugs that have been collecting dust for years.

I roll my own for sporting clays. Usually Clays under 1oz #8 in a red AA hull, and Universal under 1 1/8 #7 1/2 in a silver AA hull. It's almost time to pick up another couple hundred pounds of shot, does anyone know who has a good price?

00 Buck since I can't find #1, but mostly #7.5 shot for trap and sporting clays.

Every vote for #00 is a vote for #1, T.  They just don't know it yet.

AAHS in .410 to blast chipmunks. Then I reload them and shoot clays.

I've got a bunch of nitro gold hulls I load too.
