I recently moved back to Milwaukee a few months ago after being away for about 5 years , and man , things change .....
I went down to the Shooter's Shop in 'Stallis today , and , I know it is under different ownership , but things have certainly changed for the worst... The selection is certainly not what it once was , though if you want a police trade in Beretta or S&W , you're in business , and the prices....damn....examples... Colt 9mm Ar -$1999.99 Dpms AR-$ 949.99 and the real kicker....Ban era Century FAL for $999.99 my real problem , however was FFL transfer... I was quoted $50 , or $100 dollars for a new gun they can get from a distributor......this of course does not include shipping and insurance....so to do it here , I am looking at over $150 bucks , to sell my pistol to this fella in Il. and buy one from this other guy in Tn......does not hardly seem worth it .... So , fellas , sorry if it sounds like I am complaining , I am just in a bit of shock and , I guess I got spoiled having a very nice gunshop near me in Seattle... So , if anyone could help me out and point me in a better direction , it would be greatly appreciated t |

Don't waste your time at Badger by Miller park then. You'll get the same BS with worse service. Far as I'm concerned, they don't want the business.
Dumb move in my opinion. It keeps us out of their stores, and I assume we're the target market. Could be that it simply doesn't pay in their business model. If you find something reasonable, clue us in. |

I have to go in there one of these days. One of my (girl)friends is friends with the owner. No wonder he supposedly has three humvees. |
Check out sportsmans warehouse, I-43 and moorland in new berlin.
Love sportsman's, beware of the guy at the guy counter with the ling hair. Stocky build and likes to call you "my friend" a lot. Seems like a nice enough guy and all, but never really seens to know much of what he is talking about. Sometimes it seems to be out of laziness, other times it seens he is just trying to sound convincing when he doesn't know Anyway about Badger. A bunch of suck holes. I was treated like an A-hole there once and never felt the need to go back. My boss knows the owners pretty well. I think they are a bunch of asses. Shooters Shop, I worked there for a bit once. My brothere helped the original owners get the place off the ground. May they rest in peace. Since the new owners came in, nothing has been the same. Even the people that I worked with there act like you are there to serve them and not the other way around. As far as I am concerned they have lost my business when they start treating you like they are the to do you a favor. |

The Shooter's Shop has it's pro's and cons.
It was the only place besides Srteicher's Police Supply that had the new Federal 45 HST (and I'm not positive Streicher's had it either). Notice I used the past tense. AnnieO cleaned them out the last time she was there. If you are looking for something particular that they are a dealer for (ParaOrdnance comes to mind), and are willing to pay MSRP for it, then you go with who's got the product. Their transfer fee does suck, but they've got a better selection of accessories than Fletcher's in Waukesha. I'd say Shooter's in Racine would be better than both, but is a bit of a haul for me. Sportsmans' Warehouse: North or south of 43 on Moorland, and on the east or west side? That's fairly close for me. |
If I have my directions right Sportsman's is on the SE corner of 43 and Mooreland more or less. There is a target in the mall to which it is connected. |
I think that's the North East corner, but that helps a great deal. Thank you! |

+1 on Fletchers in Waukesha and Shooters in Racine.
-1 on Badger- they give know-it-all jerks behind gun counters everywhere a bad name. |
Not to slam Shooters in Racine, but do they ever have any kind on selection? Geez, everytime I go in there they have a dozen or so handguns, half of which are used, and a couple of dozen rifles. Their inventory isn't going to get anyone in the door.
I was in Shooters in W. Allis a month or so ago. It is alot different than when I was going there in the 80's. (Remember Spartan down the street on 84th?). Lots of inventory, but I could not believe the prices..... |
Fletcher is good, but for transfers, the best deal I've found (still in business) is this guy:
Byron Foster Classic Restorations, Ltd. 1855 Westmoor Terrace Elm Grove, WI 53122 262/853-3048 $25 flat rate... He even sent his license out for me while I was still at Ft Eustis, I go to do 4473/NICS and pick up my early ban-era CAI FAL ($400, purchased to strip out the Imbel reciever for a R1 build and re-sell the parts) tomorrow. As for Shooters Shop, my last experience with them was buying some range time and being told the price went up AFTER I purchased it (no sign anywhere visible, either)... |
Try Midwestern Shooters Supply in Lomira.
A little bit of a drive, but friendly people and very resonable on price. I agree on Badger and Shooters, they don't have a clue. |
Bought my first gun there. |
Midwerstern is where I buy all of my guns now. Not to mention they are just 25 mins for me.
Badger is out of business from what I heard. They offered to sell the place to someone else right after they got robbed. As for the shooters shop, Well I'll keep my yapper shut on them |
All the workers at badger always were packing when i was there buying my G-19.Can't believe someone robbed them without getting shot!
I have none to give. I just know they were robbed happened when no one was around though. |
You think they know how to use those guns? Ha. From myone and only trip to that shop(bad experiance) I can tell you it was done cuz they could not because they knew what they were doing. Think about it, they told every criminal hey I'm packing shoot me first by doing that shit. |
Badger outdoors gun store is still in business.I just called them on the phone!
Interesting. I was told they were shutting down till they found a buyer by the guy who was asked if he wanted to buy the place..... |
Quoted:

Dude, it's West Allis. They can charge MSRP because people pay it.
Ok time for me to get in on this, I will be talking about Shooters Shop In West Allis
They have a good selection yes prices seen a little high but people pay them so they can get them. One of my best friends works there he has always been a stand up guy but I think he is just sick and tiered of people trying to beat him up on the prices day after day the fuck with him so maybe sometimes he does get a attitude The store is in business to make money They have overhead They have payroll They have taxes If you don't like it you can shop other places Gander Mountain will never get a cent from me THEY DONT SELL BLACK GUNS SO FUCK EM! Badger just went down the shit er Shooters in Racine are friends so I will try to buy from them. I do most my buying on the web cant beat the prices Sportsman whore house has a good selection I will spend money in West Allis Oh ya The owner has Four not three Humvees |
I've had this guy do transfer for me before. Last time he did 2 AR lowers for 1 transfer fee of $25. He's in Hartford. Duane Stachura [email protected]
http://www.rbprecision.com/ already has his FFL on file!!!!! |

Once again no affiliation with Jalensky's in kenosha, and yes thier prices can be high sometimes. When they have sales thier prices are actually quite low ie. like 50 bucks over dealer cost. THey have a great selection of handguns and black rifles. Just off the top of my head; 2) ar10's, 3 m1a's one of which is a socom, colt 9mm leo carbine, colt 6520 leo carbine, 3 or 4 bushmasters, and about 6 armalite ar15's full, mid and carbine length. They have a shit load of 1911's kimber and springfield. They had a SA MC operator for 899 NIB during last weeks sale. Never hurts to ask them to move on prices either. They arent the most knowledgable about all the guns they sell but they dont act like they have a clue either. I havent been overly inpressed with any of the local dealers in SE wisconsin in the last few years.

Seems to be prerequisite to be an ass and run a gun shop. I know it's that way in Sun Prairie and Madison's fashionalable "westside".
Maybe I should apply for a job there! |
