Yuop last year we had a total of IIRC 5 homicides. This year we have 12 and still time left to add the last three to triple last years numbers.

RACINE - Damien L. Robinson, 27, died Sunday afternoon following a shooting near the intersection of St. Patrick and St. Clair streets early Sunday morning. He is the city's 12th homicide victim this year.

Police responded to the area after receiving a call of shots being fired at 2:09 a.m. Sunday. When they arrived they found Robinson, alive, with a gunshot wound to the head. He had been shot while operating a relative's van. Several shots were fired into his vehicle, including the one that caused his fatal injury.

Sunday afternoon police were still piecing the case together. "It does not look like the motive was robbery," said Lt. Kurt Wallen of the Racine Police Department's Major Crimes Unit. Someone either pulled up alongside the van, or Robinson pulled up alongside someone, he said. "And we're trying to get down to the bottom of it."

The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information concerning this homicide is asked to contact the Racine Police Department Detective Bureau at (262) 635-7756 or Crimestoppers of Racine County at (888) 636-9330

Of the 12 this year, 8 are still unsolved.....

2 men stabbed to death in Racine

Two men were killed overnight in a double stabbing in Racine, police said today. Police were called at 11:21 p.m. to a home at 1032 College Ave. for a report that someone might be getting hit with a bat inside, according to a press release. Police found two men, 46 and 47, stabbed multiple times. One man died on the scene and the other died at St. Mary's Medical Center. Police are not identifying the victims pending notification of family.

Police arrested Nicholas Csysz on suspicion of two counts of homicide, the release said. It did not give Csysz's age. Police are still investigating what led to the stabbed, the release said.

The killings bring to 15 the number of homicides in Racine this year. The highest number of killings the city has had in recent years was in 1994, when 17 homicides were recorded.

Damn and I just found out that the RPD reclassified a death from 2003 as a homicide and as such because they reclasified it as a homicide this year it counts tword the stats for this year, so we have officialy tripled our homicide rate from last year and are 2 short of our dealist year snce there were 17 homicides in 1994....
