I bought the rcbs rockchucker kit for reloading.It works great for me.I take my time and measure each powder charge.I reload .270.44Mag,.223,45-70 with it.How many of you wis guys roll your own?

And then I moved.
So now I reload in IN.

I use a Dillon 650 for .45 mostly.
Also do .44 Mag and .223
Run out of compents long before I get tired of using the machine

I did also have a Dillion 650 with tools heads in 9mm 38-357 45acp 223 308 just to lazy now to do it ammo is cheap.

Used to reload 9mm, but quit because 9mm is so cheap now, same goes for 45 ACP. All I do now is 44 mag.

Anyone want to point me in the direction on what I would need to reload? Any info online that is good explaining equipment, supplies, etc? Would greatly appreciate it. :)

I'm not sure about any online guides. I can offer this....I would say that if you are going to start, you should get a single stage press. Single stage means it can do one operation at a time. Why do I say this? I feel it's very important to learn the basics of each step before you start using progressive presses.

I think it was RCBS with one of their rockchucker presses that had a kit they put together. The kit contained the press, powder measure, primer and all other things needed for the basic start-up.

I have also seen some good basic reloading guides at a lot of shooting/sporting goods stores.

If you have the money rcbs master reloading kit is great or you could buy the lee anniversary kit for $70.The rcbs kit is around $224.Where are you in Wis?

I am in Lake Mills. Trying to find a place to shoot too. I just did my first AR build last weekend. Havent even fired it yet. hehe

Large Volumes I would suggest a Dillon 650XL you can however plan on spending for 2 calibers with the 650 and equipment about $600-$700 Give or take. This depends on how deep you want to get into it.

As for equipment. NOTE this is not an exact list, just a general one.

Several good manuals (Speer, Sierra, Hornady)
Press
Dies for each caliber
If Dillon press conversion kits for each caliber
Powder measure
scale
calipers
tumbler
tumbler media
case guages.
powder
primers
bullets
cases
storage bins
Work bench

There is more I just can't think of it right now.

I can take a pic of my set up if you want to see what kind of space you should expect.

I still reload on my Lee equipment. I use 2 single stage presses setup so that I can do consequitive operations without having to re-setup a single press. It isn't a fast way to reload, but I enjoy the time that I spend reloading and I don't mind if it takes me hours instead of minutes. Although if I had the cash I would get one of those fancy progressive presses for .223 reloading.

Flamethrower, thanks for the info. A little more than what I want to spend now though on it. I dont shoot enough for that, and cost of ammo doesnt really justify it for me right now. Maybe down the road when I get into going to some of these training courses more, I'll get a manual one to do some .223.

I appreciate your info though. Thanks a lot. And yeah, if you want you can post up a photo. Wouldnt mind seeing if it is a setup, down the road, that would be able to be in my garage feasibly.

Been reloading since I was 12 years old with my old man and now I am 31. Have reloaded thousands and thousands of rounds on a good old Rockchucker. Only recently went to a Dillon 650. Reload:

270
30-30
44 mag
44-40
45-70
357
38 spl
40 cal.
and recently starting 45 acp
Also 20 ga and 12 ga.

I would suggest picking up a Lyman Reloading Manual. If you don't want the newest edition try to find used ones at gun shows. They have a lot of info in them. May not be alot of .223 info but enough to get ya started. We had to buy the newest Edition since the binding fell apart of the previous one that we have been using for almost 20 years. I still load rifles on single loader (the old Rockchucker). Might use the Dillon when I start reloading .223 however if I plan to produce alot of rounds. Have fun at it and don't get

if you screw up. Just remember a bullet puller is your friend

Been reloading for a few years now.

Match .308 for the bolt stick.

.45 for the Kimber.

I do .223 and 9mm once in awhile. Mainly match stuff for the .223. I am going to try some 77grainers in my 16" HBAR recon carbine.

I do my .308 on a Lee single stage.

The .45 on a Lee Loadmaster.

I recommend Dillon for progressives though.
