With the death of the class I am wanting to organize a series of training sessions designed as a class preperation.

I was thinking one every other month,the first order of business is to pick the first weekend,I will host the first,it will be gear and ghillie oriented,with some practical application in tracking and stalking,shootong of course.There will also be a 'mandatory' First Aid class.
First aid training is another skill I have been slack on so I want to combine a BOI into each meet.

I thought of having a load building session one weekend,and am taking suggestions and am working off the class summary as far as topics.I think having a session on the EastCoast would be nice to shoot long after the twaeks are worked out of our gear,and am taking suggestions and volunteers,contribute your expertise.


I've been having nothing but hard times dealing with my knees,and have been slack  working on the DRC,but one of the 'rules' will be that members have to teach/lead a class on something.There is gonna be a training committee to guide and decide what that will end up being.Sully(he doesn't know it yet)will be a part of that process.I figured why have folks drive all the way do janitor work,I'd rather pass the hat to hire the heavy chores done and spend my time training.
Those guys that live close by(and further) and come to work parties of course I appreciate,and expect/need your help,that has it's own perka from the "landowner" perspective.


Anyway the first order order of business is guage interest and set a calender for the first meet.

After the first session those attending will decide the date of next one in 6-8 weeks,and what the BOI will be.This will give folks some time to prep.

I tentatively have a loading session planned for the second meet,which would be nice in Dec when it's cold.I am in the woods are far as loading so Folks will need to pitch in to lead this.I was thinking bring some toys out and teach about loads by building and testing some.

I shoulda made it clear.

This isn't really a "sponsored by DRC(or DETC)" project.
I could end up going down South this winter for rifle,ma duece in TX?TRI?I try not to read those training posts too much cause they make me crazyCRAZY the only reason I am not there yesterday is my bum knees.Anyway my "DRC" posts will start with a "sponsored by DRC & ..."

I mentioned the club dreams and got off on a tangent,but this post is about stan saying let's try this rifle prep and see where it goes.

Also,I hate to use the word rules which is why I use 'rules' in quotes,sorry this is the last tease about the DRC,honest:All that I mention especially 'rules' is open to discussion.I mentioned that teaching stuff because the DRC will become as much about instructor development as gunfighting training.These first meets will let some of us get together and work shit out face to face.The bottom line is what will be the definition,the standard for "contribute"...

I am beta-ing a BBS for the club where we can talk about all these issues,we can have real-time virtual,meetings and discussion,maybe even setup a virtual classroom for training.


Back to rifle...
All I've really shot out of my 'closet pole'(my 26"er1/9)was 45gr out to 250-300M.I really want to see what heavier bullets will do(without going broke),I need to refine my trigger,and get an accurate load dialed in,on the cheap.I didn't want to buy a rifle for class and now I have the time So,,,I was gonna convert the 26" barrel to 6.8 SPC,sometime,when ammo or better yet get reloading dies,flows alittle cheaper.Since I haven't sold the barrel I deided to keep the 26" 5.56.and convert my prsent 16" HB to 6.8 SPC 20" barrel.I will use my Commando upper for 5.56 carbine.Might as well dial in the 26"er  with the heaviest bullet I can.
I read on another thread Flamethrower wants to throw .223 4000+ I probably can do it with that 26" barrel,we need to talk about what you're loading.

I'd like to learn that whole "this round is the only round" mantra.

I used to just buy my match ammo,and do what I could with it.As a matter of fact,if I were to design a course,I probably would have a segmant where shooters had to grab some strange rounds and 'make do' with them,so not to get soft on the custom ammo.

Movement and hiding,let's not forget 'getting away', have thier mantras too,I like to practice those while hunting.

And then,there is the ONE mantra,without which nothing else matters.

"ONE SHOT"
