Need a little bit of intel....what do you think is going to happen to Colorado in the next 5-10 years?  I'm getting ready to pull up stakes and get the hell out of CA.  I'm tired of paying for the local version of socialist paradise. Colorado has a lot of things very appealing to me, but I'm worried that the lefties are going to take over.

There are some pockets of libatards, not all are Cali transplants.

Overall this state will remain conservative/libertarian.

They already have turned the state blue.  Colorado swung left years ago.

Sadly, yes.  Boulder and Denver continue to grow and dominate the rest of the state.

Thankfully the western slope sill remains a conservative stronghold.

That may not be much of consolation - inland California is also a conservative stronghold.  The problem is that it's outnumbered about 3:1 by coastal liberals.

Grew up in OC and when I graduated HS I was not fond of the super conservative right.  Started living on my own in CO and soon became a conservative which eventually evolved into libertarian which is what I call myself today.  If I don't have a libertarian choice I go republican.  Libertarian Party started in CO in Douglas County (Parker, Castle Rock, Highlands Ranch...)  With that I sometimes feel sad that there isn't more libertarian representation on our local governments and ballots.  I think in 5-10 years CO will still be a toss up.

This and this, again.
Just to stir the pot. A californian calling them self conservative is humorous, based on what  CA considers Conservative.  I'd classify most conservative CA's as moderate coloradoan's.
Hell you guys still use the "registration" word when talking about gun ownership here in CO. This coming from CA 5-10 year transplants.

Terrific, sounds like I'll fit right in.

It's not bad now but if the demographics keep skewing left over the next 10 years CO won't be much different from where CA is now. It's a question of how the overall politics of the transplants over the next decade trend.

I came from CA in 2001. Since then the state has definitely moved to the left.

I am going to have to pick up stakes and head to Montana, Idaho or Wyoming soon if things keep going the way they are.

Too F$%^ cold, Montana, you better know a lot of locals. They are one strange state when it comes to newbies. ID or WY have potential, if you're patient, the next oil bust will have wyo real estate going for low ball prices.  I'm looking @ NM. Clearly a blue state, BUT a very NFA / Gun friendly state. Outside of alberquirky and santa fe there are some hidden gems under $150K.

I like northern NM a lot, but their politics makes CO look red by comparison. Considering that gun laws are about the same, I'll just stay here.

Nothing personal to the transplants here, but Californians are resented no matter where they go in the western states.  "Don't Californicate Colorado" was a popular bumper sticker here 35+ years ago, and it's happened.  Colorado has become CA East.

Not much, but alteast I'm not surround with their ilk, like you guys are on the front range.

All states with large metro areas are suffering from the same dilemma.    Either move to WY, ID, UT. etc(unfortunately liberals are moving to these places too) or move to a state that the citizens have more control over the government like New Hampshire.

Most people don't realize how much direct control people in New Hampshire have over the state government.

There's always AZ.  Less miles to put on the UHaul and it's more gun friendly than CO.  I loved living in Colorado and don't mind the laws...the scenery definitely makes up for it...but the Libs are overwhelming.  My cousin lives in Boulder and wouldn't even go camping with us because we were bringing a gun with us to do some target shooting (NF).  If it weren't for the .mil I'd move here or to Colorado in a heartbeat.  I see Colorado getting worse in the next decade though as Boulder and Denver continue to populate with Kali folks.

Originally from California, but joined the army and met my wife who is from Colorado. This place is great just hope it doesn't continually get ruined by idiots leaving crap states and attempt to turn it into "home". Needless to say I attempt to not associate myself with where I escaped from.

Know your enemy:

"I recently finished an early copy of a book called The Blueprint: How the Democrats Won Colorado (and Why Republicans Everywhere Should Care). It is a fascinating read about what took place in Colorado over the course of about 5 years, and how a group of very wealthy progressives changed the entire political landscape of Colorado by thinking outside the box.

Let me explain. The 2006 and 2008 election cycles were unkind to the Republican Party, but what happened in Colorado was something altogether different and totally new.  A group of four mega-donors decided to ignore the state Democratic establishment and start from scratch with a brand new, privatized political infrastructure.  Of course they were aided by the new campaign finance reform laws, but what the “Gang of Four” (Rutt Bridges, Tim Gill, Jared Polis and Pat Stryker) did was replicate all of the essential functions of the Colorado Democratic Party–and added a few more for good measure."

I hope CO doesn't go libtard.

I have two classmates who are also from Commiefornia.  None of us want its laws here in Colorado.  We are so happy to be away from that place.

I fled CO several years ago and moved to Montana.  COlorado (front range) was way too liberal for me.  I somewhat agree with what you are saying but have alot of close montana friends.

ALl in all though, I love Montana, I would never leave, except to possibly move to the interior of Alaska.

WTF-as of right now, with 50 percent reporting, the state of Colorado is going Obummer's way.  This is so sad as my home state (where I spent almost 60 years in Colorado, being born and raised here) is turning into a liberal retard wonderland.  How can this be?

Sad day for America. I moved to Denver a few months ago. I've really liked it, but it is not what I expected. I may be moving to Utah or AZ next june and I can honestly say that I'd be happy going to a red state.. CO isn't what it used to be.

Yeah, Colorado is just another Washington or Oregon now. I am a long time native Texan but I lived in the Littleton/Denver area as a kid for 6 years in the late '50s-early '60s..it was a paradise, full of good conservative people..guess it's like the Northeastern libs moving south and ruining Virginia and North Carolina...
