2003 CSSA CMP AR-15 Match Rifle Purchase Program

This year, CSSA will again be purchasing AR-15 Match Rifles from the CMP to augment our armory of highpower rifle rifles available for temporary member use.  Since CSSA has an annual quota of 20 of these rifles, several of these quotas will be made available individually to interested CSSA members who have not previously purchased AR-15 rifles from CMP.

CSSA members who are interested in participating in this program should send their contact information to [insert email address here] or call CSSA CMP executive Jerry Davidson at 303-986-5740.  Include name, residence address (no P.O. Boxes!) and day and evening telephone numbers.  To be eligible to purchase one of these rifles, you must be a U.S. citizen over age 21, a member in good standing of CSSA, and not disqualified by federal, state or local law from purchasing or possessing a firearm.  CMP requires that you retain possession of the rifle with CSSA verification for at least one year.  Details of the program, rifles and prices can be found in the attachment.  In addition to the purchase price, there will be a $40 handling charge for each personal rifle purchased with a CSSA quota.

If there are more applicants than quotas, then quotas will be filled by selecting applicants by drawing.  It is anticipated that at least 15 quotas for individual purchase will be available, but the final number will not be determined until approximately October.  It is anticipated that CSSA’s order will be submitted to the CMP in November.

Anyone interested should contact the office at [email protected].

CMP and CSSA Competition Rifle Purchase Program

The Civilian Marksmanship Program offers an opportunity to purchase AR-15-type match rifles through affiliated associations and clubs.  The program is the result of a special agreement with Bushmaster and Compass Lake Engineering to make accurized high power rifles available at subsidized prices.  This year, 15 CSSA members will be afforded the opportunity to purchase these rifles through the CMP program.  The rifles are AR-15-type match rifles, with the price subsidized by CMP to promote high power rifle shooting.  Interested shooters should contact CMP highpower executive Joe Jordan (see contacts page at end of magazine).  To be eligible to purchase a rifle, you must be a CSSA member in good standing and meet all CMP rifle-purchasing criteria, including marksmanship experience (see CMP website www.odcmp.com for details).  If more than 15 shooters register to purchase rifles, a lottery will be held to determine those who will receive quotas to purchase these rifles.  Limit one rifle per member.  Those not selected can choose to remain eligible for future lotteries or withdraw from consideration.

To ensure that the rifles are purchased for use in high power programs, CMP requires CSSA to maintain a record for one year of the ownership and location of each rifle purchased through this program, and the rifles are subject to inspection during that period.
