Starting the 19th, the Pit is closed until further notice due to nearby logging activity.

just when I was planning to go, if only for something different to do. Makes me wonder if it will ever reopen.
This is the lower pit, correct? Once upon a time there was an upper pit and the lower pit, but that was about 30 years ago. Thank you for letting us know. |

Looks like the triangle pit may be open on the weekends
https://www.dnr.wa.gov/Capitol TARGET SHOOTING Capitol State Forest has areas closed to target shooting. The Triangle Pit hours have changed, and it is now open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m on weekends only for the next few weeks due to forest management operations starting Feb. 17, 2021. Target shooting is not allowed: On a 5-mile corridor on the C-Line, starting from D-4000 up to Low Bank Pit On the D-4000 between the C-Line and D-Line |

It will definitely reopen when the timber harvest is complete. |
