It's either the CPU, Motherboard, or both.

I'm just trying to determine where the break is on my system. I cross checked the RAM and Videocard on an Intel system, they're good to go. The only two parts i need to test are the CPU and Motherboard. As long as it's a socket 939, I should be good to go. I have a strong feeling its the Motherboard. There are rare cases that both go out.

I have an Athalon XP processor laying around.  Is that 939?  If it is, you can have it.  BTW, if you just need a board/processor combo for internet surfing and stuff like that, I make have a really old board/CPU setup that needs a home.  I think its single core less than 1 GB processor.  One is Intel, the other is an Amd Athalon K7.

save your pennies and go buy the BE 3.4 quad core, or whatever speed they are going at now. It beats trying to macgyver an old cpu and MB

If he can salvage a good system, then why not. Plus 50 spent on a mobo or cpu is cheaper than a new computer or base setup

You are right, I just upgraded my computer so I could play some of the newer games. If you do not play games or higher math aplications ( autocadd, ect ) I guess you really do not need to get a new system
