Because I've heard they don't eat pork (rancid or not) and the biscuit is more like a falafel.

and I've never seen them pictured in a white uniform

I just find the comparison interesting..................

Not at all, I was just offering a different perspective. I realize immigrants are viewed a little different, but I will play it as a card when it suits a situation.

I don't see any NVG's, the M4 with all that shit weighs well over 10 lbs.

Although one thing is probably the same.  Shitty officers ordering their men into unnecessarily risky situations to make themselves look better and get their full bird.

Wonder if:

1. One is an "implement of war" and one is not

or

2.  The armor is considered "expired" and would open DRMO to legal issues if someone bought it, used it, and it didn't work.

They don't DRMO body armor because the .gov types don't think joe civilian should have it.  And these days it is all being passed on to the Iraq and Afghanistan gubments just like or used up vehicles.

Indeed. 200 yrs ago, GB was the shit, and we were the ragheads rag tag "army" that couldn't even feed or shoe our troops...and we fought "dishonorably", firing from behind IED's trees, and worse––we deliberately aimed for their officers.

Not a combat vet, but it seems to me that war is a very fluid situation, and the willingness of the home front to support it is as important as the frontline itself. The troops can be tough as nails...but if they are spit on when they come home (or while they are there), that affects things.

Sadly its our political leaders that are defeating us.

This nice idea that we should fight a nice clean war against an enemy so we don't kill to many of them.

War is war, play to win or go home. Play for a tie and your just losing good men in a wasted cause.

War is NOT suppost to be nice.

YMMV.

True initially but by the end we were fighting, and beating, England on her own terms thanks to the French and that dilettante Prussian drill instructor.

There are phases to any insurgency and any one that goes long enough (and picks up a foreign sponsor) ends in a conventional war. The NVA didn't ride water buffalo into Saigon in '75.

True all, but I find the comment in red verruh interesting...."our political leaders are defeating us." The French said much the same in 1954 (end of the Indochina conflict). They weren't defeated on the battlefield, but in Paris.

France at the time was about to go full-bore socialist; I wonder if we are....wait, never mind, we're almost there.

Interesting times we live in, eh?

I vaguely remember that thread, but these are different thermals.  They're like PVS 14's, but tan and run thermal.  They can go 2x and take digital recordings.  Pretty badass.  I would lose my mind if I lost one or was responsible for a lost one.

I had the misfortune of driving our Commander and a Platoon Sgt to Doha from FOB New York......the E7 misplaced his PVS14s on a bus and a paki turned them in to CID....that was an uncomfortable ride.......

Moments of extreme silence interlaced with cussing/screaming from the CMDR the occasional sob...the BN CMDR reamed his ass....the E7...acted like...WTF....really is it that big a deal...which simply poured more gas on the fire............I got to go to the PX at DOHA though, so that was a plus.......that E7 made MSG eventually....good guy...shit happens.
