Looking for a recommendation for a good 'smith to rebarrel a Winchester 70.

Preferably within driving distance of Seattle, but will travel further for quality work.

A gunsmith that wasn't listed in the resources page was Larry Conley, 360-668-9409.  He is just south of Snohomish off of highway 9.  He recently mounted an Unertl scope on a 1903 springfield for me and did great work.  He does alot of work on hunting and benchrest rifles, I'm having him ream out an 06 to an Ackerly improved.  Don't expect quick turnarounds but his work is great and prices are reasonable.

Thanks for the recommendation. No big hurry, don't need it running again 'til deer season next year.

Ed Lapour is widely recognized as an excellent Fudd smith. Of course you probably want it barreled yesterday so he may not be your guy.

Not too many 'smiths get on the cover of gun digest.

"The old man" at greenes gun range near oak harbor, he does everything from custom triggers to rebarrel jobs, he worked for smith and wesson for 25yrs, he takes a bit of time to get the work done though....

Beware the 'smith that doesn't have a backlog.
